Even when things are bad, they're good. That's why I love it here in Southington Connecticut. It's a wonderful community with great people and there are lots and lots of things to do. But what I appreciate most are the schools. I have 3 kids in the Southington Public School System and I have to say that most days, I am quite impressed with how they're run.
Today a few parts of town were experiencing flooding issues due to yesterday's rain and all the rapidly melting snow. Dr. Joseph Erardi, the Superintendent of Southington Schools, was kind enough to notifiy all the parents of the potential for delays the school buses might experience due to a few roads being closed. It was comforting to be assured that our children would be delivered home safely.
Southington has over 45,000 residents and approximately 7,500 children in public school system. Keeping all those parents informed is no easy task! But they do it and they do it OFTEN and they do it WELL.
I'd like to say THANK YOU to the dedicated faculty, staff, administrators and volunteers who are committed to our children's quality education!
Flooding like this is quite rare! It is only occurs during the most severe weather conditions. Many other parts of town were not affected at all.

Most of the affected areas are close to the Quinnipiac River
