Motivational Power Quote

The Way to Become Rich . . . .

"The way to become rich is to

Put all your eggs in one basket and

                     Watch that basket."

Andrew Carnegie, industrialist

As I see it . . . . . . . .

The way to become rich . . . .

Become a specialist in a market niche; put your energy and efforts into growing that niche into an unstoppable business force to the point where you are seen as an expert in your field.

People prefer to work with a specialist someone that they see as being an expert in their profession.

Experts are in demand and generalist become overlooked.

Customer main concerns are their own interests and want the best person and/or company to help them fill full that need.

The way to become rich is to become a specialist filling a market niche.

Lou: Knowledge and ongoing education in the industry will help make someone rich. In order to become the best of the best it will take consistent updating throughout the life cycle in the industry. Whether it be ten years or twenty, one should not ever quit learning and strive to be the best.

Lou,

Sound advice from such a great man.  I had a professor in college say that to be the best of the best, you have to work on the cutting edge, new tools and adapt to change.

Little different advice than many financial consultants would give - don't put all your eggs in one basket - but hey...the way you have put it - it's perfect - be an expert and focus on a niche...

That is a different take on the old saying, but it makes sense because you can't watch too many baskets at once without some of those eggs falling out.

The "expert" is always given more credence than the "generalist." So, it pays to specialize, then you can invest the rewards of your work in many baskets!

Lou, I guess there are pros and cons for both the one basket vs. many baskets approach.  Specializing and being very good at one thing is good but one should also stay up-to-date enough on general topics in ones field to keep up and not lose touch.

Enjoyed the post Mr. Carnegie had some very strong words that we can all benefit from today. Too often we see professionals who claim to be specialists in everything. I see advertising from contractors that say "we specialize in all areas of construction". Really?

Thanks for the post!

Thought provoking this morning. I have multiple baskets - one really big and a couple of smaller baskets. But I am watching them all!

The problem with that theory is that who wants to be wealthy with only eggs.  Life is so much more than just being abundantly fortunate in one area…
