Here are some more fun things to do in April in Arizona - I think there is something for everyone - from a comedy festival to a home tour to a celebration of Tequila to great ways to get out and about and enjoy nature.  I hope that you will find something that is perfect for you.  I love getting feedback, so please let me know if you enjoyed any of these activities or if there are others that you think I should include.  Have a great April!!

April 13 through April 16  11th Annual Yuma Birding and Nature Festival Yuma - Yuma Visitors Bureau This festival that celebrates the diverse habitat surrounding Yuma includes a multitude of tours that you can sign up for as well as exhibits and seminars.  The keynote speaker is Bruce Taubert a photographer from Arizona Highways.  The tours are priced individually There is a $25.00 fee for the seminars and exhibit areas.   928-783-0177 or www.yumaheritage.com

April 15 through April 17 - 8th Annual Desert Ice Bonspiel Scottsdale - Alltel Ice Den -  Cool off in the Ice Den as you watch 24 curling teams from Canada and the U.S. participating in the tournament, www.coyotescurling.com

April 16 - Get Out...Get Into It!  Discover Prescott's Natural History - Prescott -this 1st time event offers free activities including:  Interpretive walks at Willow and Watson Lakes and Watson Woods Preserve that highlight the riparian area’s birds, plants, geology, archeology and trail system as well as free admission to Heritage Park Zoo adjacent to Willow Lake.  There will be nature related vendors at Heritage Park Zoo  http://www.cityofprescott.net

 

April 16 - 12th Annual Rotary River Rally - Tempe - Tempe Town Lake - This annual fund-raiser for children's charities is a really fun event for a great cause .  Every year contestants build boats out of cardboard to fight to win the title of the Best Dressed Team, the Most Spirited, Pride of the Regatta, Vogue Awards and (the most sought-after) the Titanic Award for the most spectacular sinking ship!  Free (for observers), Fri. preview 4-8 pm, Sat. 9 am - 3 pm, 480-905-5944 or www.rotaryriverrally.com  

 

 

April 16  - Annual Pat's Run - Tempe - Sun Devil Stadium  4.2 miles run, 4.2 miles walk, .42 free kids fun run/walk, all events finish on the 42 yard line of  the Sun Devil Stadium ( symbolic of the #42 jersey Pat Tillman wore while he was a Sun Devil)  Includes free entertainment, live local music, food, drinks and a carnival-like kid’s area, $30-35, 7 am, 480-507-6754 or www.patsrun.com

 

 

April 16 through April 17 - Chalk It Up! April 16 through April 17 - 17th Annual Arizona Asian Festival This colorful and exciting event is reminiscent of an Asian street fair.  The ethnic character of more than a dozen Asian cultures will be represented by music, dance, games, art, shopping and exotic food..  This year's event will also include carnival rides and  the famous National Geographic Society Giant Traveling Map of Asia. Performances include Taiko drumming, Folk Dancing, and Martial Arts. Free for the regular hours of the Festival - 9:00 am to 7:00 pm on Saturday and 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on Sunday. In addition, a special night event will be held from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm on Saturday with a $3 admission charge for adults.
