Palm Beach Barrett-Jackson Auction a Success!
April 7th-9th a team of twenty of the nation's top auctioneers gathered in West Palm Beach, Florida for the 9th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction.
This year's Barrett-Jackson set the stage to be an industry changing event. Barrett-Jackson once revolutionized the industry with the Absolute Auction, selling all types of classic, collector, prototype, and specialty cars at no reserve. They have developed an industry standard on how absolute auctions are conducted.
This year at Palm Beach, Barrett-Jackson set out to change the industry once again by mixing reserve lots back into the lineup. Barrett-Jackson Auction Company wanted those sellers who didn't want to sell their collectible absolute an opportunity to showcase their car and determine what the market was willing to pay.
Each auctioneer conversed with the other on the best approach to take with the reserve lots, and how to communicate with SPEED, who was televising the event, so that they would know when the reserve had been met.
Early projections for the event revealed a number around the $10 million dollar mark. When the smoke cleared and dust had settled, the auction staff put together by Spanky Assiter, Chairman & Found of Assiter Auctioneers, had achieved over $14 million sold on 373 cars that crossed the auction block.
Be sure to check out the next Barrett-Jackson event hosted in Orange County, CA June 24th-26th.
Until next time...
