On May 15 the David Posnack Jewish Community Center and Monterra housing community of Cooper City, FL will be holding it's first annual 5K Run in honor of Yom Ha'atzmaut, or Israel's Independence Day.
Other activities will include a one mile walk, raffles, authentic Israeli food, kid's activities, award ceremony, and swimming. Vendors are welcome at $100. per table.

For those new to the area this is a fantastic way to meet and greet with other members of the JCC and local community. Over 15 years ago when I first moved to South Florida I joined the JCC right away and enrolled my kids in their pre-school program. It was through the JCC that my family and I made many friends for life and became actively involved in the local community.
And no, you don't have to be Jewish to join or participate in any of their activities. People of all races are welcome. In addition to the school the JCC of Davie also offers a well equipped fitness center, swimming, tennis, summer camps for kids, pre-school, dance classes, basketball leagues, and a host of other activities for the entire family.
Davie, Florida is conveniently situated between Hollywood to the East and Pembroke Pines to West and Miramar to the South and Sunrise to the North. The same campus also offers private school all the way up to the 12th grade. For those who cannot afford it, financial aid is available through the Jewish Federation. Monterra, on the other hand, is located literally across the street in Cooper City. It is still under development and offers a host of single family homes to choose from. If short sales and foreclosures are not your cup of tea, new construction may be the route to go as they close quickly.
