Blogging
...I'm getting the picture that many of you are terrified to write out your own thoughts each day. How do you overcome this? Blog from the Heart.

Many experts will tell you to use keywords for SEO, use a certain format, add pictures for interest, etc.

I encourage you to throw all that out of your mind right now, and just start writing it out...from the heart. Tell a story. Tell us why your topic is so important to You!

Have you ever watched American Idol, The Voice, or some other talent show? Have you ever noticed those who get picked are not necessarily the ones with the best voice?

Pia Toscano comes to mind. She sings like Celine, in tone, but she also seems disconnected from her audience emotionally.

Don't do this to Your Audience! We want to know the Real You! That is what makes you exciting!

Facebook used to irritate the crap out of me. A few certain people could post a status "I'm watching grass grow," and would get 25 comments out of it! Then I figured out their secret. They post consistently and from the heart, and they are normally genuinely interesting people, genuine being the key word.

So, don't be afraid to show us who you are! After you write your blog, then you can tweak it with keywords and add pictures.

By the way, I think the heart picture above is an optical illusion. If you stare at the heart, it appears to get smaller and smaller, and I'm not sure why because nothing is moving.

Good points Linda. I didn't see any change in the heart though.

Hi, Lynda. I like sharing stories of my experiences. I will certainly be speaking from my heart. This heart does get smaller when you stare at it for some reason.

Jerry, I'm glad it's not just me with the heart! Since you were in the army, I'm sure you've got plenty of experiences to share. By the way, thank you for serving our country.

Brian, that is awesome! Congratulations! :)

Although I’m at Facebook, I think there’s just too much crap there and the time required to wade through all the crap to find something useful is just too overwhelming. I even saw where one of my friends was “texting this from the stall in the men’s room at On The Border.” I really didn’t need to know that, nor did I want to know that. I hid that friend.

Lindsey, thank you so much! I'm honored.

Jim, I apologize to you for not replying sooner; I just saw this post. My suggestion is to keep hiding all the friends who post crap.

I've seen some crap even here on ActiveRain and I just choose to ignore it. I understand what you're saying, though, I get tired of hiding all the games and spam posts.
