Is this Connecticut or is it Ireland?!?

After an incredibly stormy winter that kept everything blanketed under a heavy layer of snow, we've had quite a rainy spring. As I sit here in my kitchen, watching the teeming rain, I've been feeling like perhaps I'm no longer in Connecticut, but instead in a country known for its green and verdant views - somewhere like Ireland...

Much as days of rain might make me feel both a bit soggy as well as a little gloomy, I really appreciate the results. Everything is thriving out there, and the lawn is fuller and greener than I remember it ever being since we moved here.

There's an upside to being in the rain!

Hi Teral - I am generally happy, even though it's been raining quite a bit here. It's so wonderful to have the flowers and lawn watered for me!

Hi Judy

There is something to be said for extra rain. It makes everything lush and vibrant. The rain is why we have so much velvety moss, curly ferns, aggressive ivy and blossoming trees and shrubs everywhere here in Seattle!

Enjoy

Hi Rob - Thanks very much! I agree - the first snowfall is beautiful, but the way we got clobbered repeatedly this past Winter, I can wait a year or two to see more.

Thanks, my day went pretty well. I wish you the same!

Hi Judi - Yes, the rain is a gift in many ways. I confess to a real partiality for moss. I just love its velvety texture.

Interestingly enough, I had those same thoughts a couple days ago.  We've had twice the average rainfall this year.  I look out my windows and see GREEN everywhere:-)  Your photos are breathtaking.

Hi Steve - Thanks! Just wait until the irises are blooming! It'll just be a couple of days now. My favorite thing about them is that they smell like grapes!

Hi Kathy - That's really true, isn't it? All the new buds opening, eveything greening up after the winter. It makes me feel like I'm making my way out of a cocoon. I wish you a great May as well!

Judy, thank you for sharing these fabulous photos. They make me want to pack and move to CT. I have visited a long time ago and loved it. The trees are so abundant in your state - that's what I remember and love the most about CT.

HI Elizabeth - It's my pleasure! I'm so glad you enjoyed them. You're right about the trees here; they are abundant and really pretty. I was driving to a client in the rain the other day, and there was a lake alongside the road, and then heavily wooded areas. The tree trunks were very dark with the rain, almost black and contrasted with the bright and beautfiul green leaves - it was like driving through a painting.
