Have you ever wanted to explain something to someone else where it would be so much easier if they could just see your computer screen? Fortunately, there is a really easy way to do that. Join.me is a free program that works a lot like a webinar, except you don’t have to set it up in advance or send invitations, and no one has to install any software.
Let’s look at a real life example. I tend to do a lot of teaching and coaching as part of my job, and often I’m helping loan officers throughout Arizona and now California. Let’s say one of them is having trouble updating their ActiveRain sidebar. Obviously it’s much easier for me to explain if I can show them what I’m talking about.
Well, I can go to join.me and click the arrow next to the Share button. It will download a file to my computer and then the software will allow me to share my screen. I’ll know it’s working when I see the join.me application appear with the meeting code. On the other end, the person I’m sharing my screen with just has to type in the 9 digit code to see my screen.
Keep in mind that this is a screensharing program, so sound will not come through. But the each meeting does come with a conference line, so if you’re sharing your screen with multiple viewers (up to 250!) you can all dial into the conference call.
There are many more features to join.me, and they do have a paid pro version with lots of advanced capabilities. It’s definitely worth checking out.
