Current mortgage rate trend 5-31-11 mortgages Carlsbad

Current mortgage rate trends are deteriorating.  Mortgage rates are rising due to positive economic news as investors sell their mortgage investments and buy stocks instead.  When mortgage bonds stage a sell off mortgage rates rise as is the case today.

Reason:  New jobs are expected to increase.  Word from Europe that they have a plan to help Greece avoid defaults.  German retail sales rose and unemployment dropped.  First time in 19 years Germany has had this good of a report.  This fuels bets that the European central bank will raise interest rates again to stave off inflation.

Nevin:  Your post is a great example of why clients already in the process of buying ... and potential clients as well, should stay in touch with their mortgage professional.  The interest rates heading into this morning would have many thinking that they were trending downwards.  Nope!  Today's markets pushed them in another direction.  Staying in touch is the only way to time the most beneficial "lock".  Keep on preachin' Nevin ...
