Fannie Mae Requires LockBoxes for their Properties

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX PowerPro Realty

Electronic LockboxAlthough this is not a concern for me [I always use electronic lockboxes on ALL of my listings] I am happy to see that Fannie Mae has made "Electronic Lockboxes" a requirement for the real estate industry. This change will provide safety to our homeowners and communities, as well as require agents to accompany their buyer's to the properties. Major change for a better tomorrow in real estate.

Michelle-Maybe they are moving the direction of electronic lock boxes, but in San Antonio, there seems to be a mix- combinations are used for some properties and others use the Supra.

I agree Michele, its a safety / security issue, plus it gives you information on who has been to the home. Of the four MLS districts in the SF Bay area, two fo them require Supar Lockboxes on all listings (if there is a lockbox).

I am glad they are doing this, I hate visiting homes that only have the contractor locboxes on them.

@ Wayne: They have been mixed here to.  According to Fannie Mae their properties will require Electronic nationwide.  I guess you will be seeing a lot more of them in the near future.

@John: Yes, I agree.  I actully use this as a Listing tool.

@Brian: They are a benefit in many ways :)
