The Sarasota Folk Music Festival is taking place October 20th at the Crowley Museum and Nature Center in Sarasota! There will be plenty of folk music on the three stages available, as well as workshops, hayrides for young and old to participate in and plenty of food!!! You can even bring your own musical instrument along to participate in the country jam circles!!! www.sarafolk.org

And on top of that, the 13th Annual Sarasota Craft Festival is going to take place October 20 & 21 directly on Main Street in downtown Sarasota!!! There will be an array of arts and crafts available. There is ALWAYS something cool taking place in Sarasota!!! That is why people come from as far away as Pinellas County to take part in the festivities!!!

Thanks for posting this helpful community information. Though I am a licensed Virginia Realtor, my primary home is with my family in Sarasota (my mom, Donna Stewart, is a realtor for Michael Saunders of Saint Armand's Circle http://donnastewart.michaelsaunders.com/ ). Because I am back and forth, posts like this--about goings on in the area--help keep my travel plans coordinated. Next year, I will surely remember this!

I'm working presently outside DC in the Northern Virginia (NVA) Metro Region. Like Sarasota, our area is in constant flux with travelling locals, tourism, and import/export transient residents. Both places have great social and cultural virtues, including lots of great weather! I'm a fan of the drum circles on Siesta Key Beach and other fun SRQ traditions. Aside from the ballet, symphony, Asolo musicals, Sarasota Opera, Sarasota Film Festival, and the Artist Series, the Sarasota Folk Music Festival may be one more stop to add to my regular visits!
