The revenge of the trees? Another tree on house in Searcy Arkansas.

I've had several blogs that showed the damage a tree will do to a house.....and it is not even during a tornado. The limbs just decide to go down and a house is not strong enough to withstand the blow.

Here's what we found in Searcy Arkansas today. The house is right beside our Searcy Board of REALTORS office on East Vine Street so lots of folks saw the damage.

The tree still stands tall and proud. I wonder if the folks will take it down to avoid another damaging limbfall. Hopefully, no one was hurt in the house but it has been raining hard today so the house probably has extensive damages.

Folks never seem to follow the rule of not planting trees within 30 - 50 ft. of the house.

We do like our shade trees.

James, the tree was big!

Rita, as far as I know, no one was hurt. Perhaps tomorrow's paper will say.

Don, the problem is that rule is written nowhere! I doubt one person who does a yard after building a house knows that. They are concerned with planting fast growing trees up close to the house. Hubby planted river birches up close to our house....fast growing trees. Within a few years they were tearing up the sidewalk, drinking all the water and generally being a selfish bunch of saps. I finally talked him into getting them eliminated and things have been much better since. Every time I drive by a house and see river birches I silently am thankful that they have the trees and not me!

Oh MY! Did we have that bad of a storm? I must have slept it. Where is the house? I didn't realize there was any damage here. I had heard that in NE Arkansas there were trees everywhere downed.

Who plants trees? I guess we will since the drought got the ones down by the mailbox. But most of the houses we have lived in just had a lot full of trees without having to plant them. We do love our trees or do we just enjoy complaining about them...the leaves, or the needles, the acid or the nuts, and the roots...what would we have to complain about if it wasn't for the weather and our wonderful trees? Just think...where would Nutsy live? NOT IN MY ATTIC!

I sure hope no one was hurt with all the damage to this house. Ms. Barbara you are getting to be an A-1 reporter...you blog is faster than the news! Way to go!

I still can't let it go...30 to 50 feet Mr. Don...how about build the house around the tree and attach your seat on the deck to it...tree house on the ground!

Love the way you described the birches Ms. Barbara...I guess we all know what NOT to get you for holiday...Birch Trees in a bucket, all tied up in ribbons.

Funny...I must have slept it...that would be through it...it is late and time for bed again...goodnite...I'm going to sleep under my trees.

Miz Debbie, we have friends up in the Fayetteville area that have a large live tree growing in the middle of their living room. They also have 5 flying squirrels as pets. They let them roam freely through the branches of that tree.

Debbie, you write so well just before going to bed!! Thanks for comments and for NOT buying me a birch tree. Hubby also went through the Bradford Pear stage and set out several of them. Each time we had a high wind a Bradford Pear would go down and he'd send curses flying. Finally, the wind took them all and now when we see Bradford Pears lining a walkway we wish them a silent good luck. His last tree-buying was when I questioned his sanity because the trees were those expensive Japanese Maples. I couldn't believe it when he told me what he'd paid.

He set them out in the front flower bed along with the already planted Crepes. Those Crepes are making mince out of those Japanese things. You can't kill a Crepe Myrtle. Nothing can harm a Crepe Myrtle. We chop them down to the dirt and the next year they grow like wildfire. The little maples are cringing behind them with one so hidden you can't see it or touch it at all.

But Hubby still considers himself a tree authority. LOL

Mr. Don...I agree...You surely jest! I have one question...how do they train the squirrels to stay OFF of the HOUSE!...Ours are certainly not in the attic as hot as it is in there...but the roof, the walls, the vents...they climb all over my house...and with NO fear! What is the secret? Let them fly in the trees but what do you soak your house in to loose them?

I'm about ready to call on some of those snakes Ms. Barbara had on the blog earlier...I had been told that rubber snakes on the roof will scare them off but these are fearless...

Ms. Barbar...you love trees about as well as I love squirrels. We all like inside plants but my husband used to say they were not a good investment for me...until one day...I had a house that was plant friendly...but all those beautiful show plants were stolen during one of our moves.

So when we replace the dead trees from the front of the house we need to call on Mr. Duncan, Tree Expert! Or just give up and add more Crepe Myrtles....

I guess I like the trees cause then there isn't much grass...a friend of ours in Samoa has a yard of lava stones rather than grass...looks like that would be uncomfortable to walk on to me.

I know that house and I know who owns it. The gentleman who had been living there passed away several months ago. Since that time, the house has only been used for storage. ( So no one was injured.) The family is currently going round and round with the insurance company. :(

Angela, I'm glad no one was hurt and the insurance should pay off. They may be saying it was an act of God, therefore uncovered. Keep us posted.
