Hot Dog! Get the Juices Rolling & Bring on the Cream
Now this is a day to enjoy! Kathy Streib, Home Stager in Palm Beach County, South Florida has noted two causes to celebrate life in America today. Hot Dog! Get the juices rolling and bring on the cream.
July 23 is National Hot Dog Day AND National Vanilla Ice Cream Day! . I'm beside myself.. two of my favorite things in one day! I may have to do a mea culpa at Roger Mucci's Take It Off In the Rain!
I don't know why this date was chosen.. all I know is that I have been given permission by the the good people at Holiday Insights to celebrate this day. I do not mind admitting that I love a good hot dog; it's one of the reasons I've always loved going to baseball games. At our monthly Realtors Lunch on the House, we used to have hot dogs. It was the one time I had a real excuse for eating them. But I think too many health minded people chimed in and ...no more hot dogs. I was in Kansas City several years ago to see the Royals play and they had some of the best stadium dogs. Many people like Costco Dogs... they must I see enough of them being eaten in the food area when I'm there.
I love them with tons of mustard and some relish. Not crazy about the chili because it just gets in the way of the dog.
Now the second celebratory food item today is Vanilla Ice Cream. I'm not sure why it's just Vanilla but I'm not asking any questions. All I know is I have my ice cream scoop, cherry and chocolate sauce ready. I was never a big ice cream eater, and in fact I really don't eat it very often. And when I do I usually go for the "classic" flavors... chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. My favorite vanilla ice cream is from Blue Bell, originally from Brenham, Texas just about 90 minutes from Houston.
So now that you know what today is, I hope you will throw guilt to the wind and go out and have a good old hot dog and finish it off with some vanilla ice cream.... after all it is National Hot Dog and Vanilla Ice Cream Day!
I'm not sure if there is a National Chocolate Ice Cream Day, I'll have to Google it, but with any luck it will coincide with National Chocolate Cake Day!
