Agent Racing Out, Building on Fire, Flames Pouring Out the Windows!!

Gas furnace was shot. New one was ordered.

New gas furnace in. Closing a few days away. The selling agent is in the house testing the furnace.

“I turned it on and the smoke detector started blaring. There is also a funny smell. I am freaked out."

We talk about possible reasons, and I ask her to turn it on again.Agent Racing Out, Building on Fire, Flames Pouring Out the Windows!!

At one point I said, “Could you please go to the neighbor across the street?”

"Why?”

"I want you to give them your flip camera. When the furnace explodes and the building erupts on fire, with flames coming out of the windows, I want to have a video of you racing out of the building.”

“Not funny...

Not funny at all!”

The gas company was called and they came right out.

The problem? The registers had been painted over, and the heat was causing the paint to smell funny and the smoke detector to go off.

The property is set to close.

And I don’t have my dramatic video to sell to the press...

I would rather have the closing than the interesting story!  Have a great weekend! :)

That is indeed an interesting way to present the story and would have been horrible had the building actually caught fire!

This is all too real. In our little town of Alameda CA, I've seen my share of really old furnaces. I am in contract now, and my clients want to have a new heating system before they move in the house. I'll have to remember to make sure to have a PG&E technician to come out and test it.

Thanks
