Please do not Ever Leave Your Young Children Alone in a Car with the Motor Running!

I just came from the local HEB grocery store to purchase our dinner for this evening. The store was crowded as always but I was able to through the ordeal in excellent fashion. As I was leaving, I saw a luxury SUV pull into a parking spot with a Mom driving her two young children who were in car seats in the back seat. The Mom jumped out of car and took off for who knows what purpose or place. I was pushing my cart of groceries as this unfolded in front of me. I walked slower as the kids were in the care alone and i was not going to stand there and watch some idoit take off with the car and kids. I was ready to go open the doors as even a few moments in a closed car in this type of heat can cause serious health problems. Ss I got to the rear of the vehicle I could tell the motor was still running so the heat problem for the kids was a non issue. I was totally amazed as I could not see the mom anywhere. I could hear in the distance loud yelling of several teenagers who were putting leaflets on each car. Their screams consisted mostly of cursing. Thank you Lord for keeping these idiots away from the running car with the kids. Finally the Mom came back to her car as I was becoming a traffic hazard by walking so slow in the middle of the traffic lane.

If you have children in your car think before you act. Never leave small children alone in a car with the motor running in Katy Texas or anywhere.

That's crazy. I would have been on the phone to 911 to have the police show up.

Leaving children in a car is never a good idea. Every year you see the new stories where a child has died after being left in a hot car.

Thank you for watching out for her children! Seriously... Your presence and obvious concern could have been what stopped someone from taking off with them. Only God knows what would have happened if you hadn't stalled long enough for mom to get back. We may have heard about it on tonights news.

Robert -- Some people have no business being parents. How much time transpired here? That's great that you watched out for those kids, but for me -- 9 - 1 - 1 If she did it once, she will do it again.

Good evening Bob, It is a sad situation. Leaving kids alone in a car and leaving a vehicle running unattended will result in arrest in California. Both together will usually result in a few days in the county jail at a minimum.

I going to e-mail this to all my friends and have them e-mail it to their friends, I agree with everyone's comments 9-1-1 if she does it once she will do it again. There would never be anything so important to me to run in and leave my children in the car!

Thank you for all of your comments. It would have taken the polioce at least 20 minutes if not longer to get there and frankly I doubt if the dsipatcher would have put ant priority on coming out. I forgot my camera at home or else I would have taken a picture. I was just amazed at what I saw and was concerned about the safety of the children. I wrote this blog just in the hope that people pass it around and others who need to learn will stop and think before doing something stupid. Now if the Mom went into the store and was gone for along time I would have stayed and called the police. I still do not where she went for say 2-3 minutes?

I wrote another blog about Mom who sat on railraod tracks at a stoplight with a full van full of kids in the car. Another incedibilily stupid act. I worry about parents of young children these days as some have no clue about safety when it comes to their children.
