Elect Michael Paduano Desert Water Agency

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker
Dear neighbors,

My name is Michael Paul Paduano. As a candidate for the Board of Directors of the Desert Water Agency I would like to share with you my background and experiences as well as my concerns for and interest in this position.

We live in a desert. Water is a vital concern. We live in a time of economic unrest. Fiscally sound decisions are essential. We live in a world polluted by years of unreasonable practices and neglect. We need an eye to the future and to its generations.

Several people have asked me recently why I would be interested in serving on this board. My answer to them was simply, “I am a young man living in the desert and plan to be here for a long time. I don’t want to live in a region where water is scarce, not of high quality, or outrageous in its costs. If you live in a desert, water should be of paramount importance. It is to me!”

STATE AND LOCAL EXPERIENCE

Michael is an active member of the California and Nevada Water Works Association and the American Water Works Association. AWWA & The California-Nevada Section of AWWA are two associations linked together by a common belief and a common passion: Safe and Reliable Drinking Water. As a member of the Legislative Committee, Local Governmental Relations Committee and Property management Committee for the California Association of Realtors (CAR), Michael helped and observed in advancing public policy objectives in the California State Legislature in Sacramento, including sponsoring, supporting and opposing state legislation.

WATER CONSERVATION I believe we can do more with a valley-wide regional water conservation plan. Our five water agencies have unique needs throughout the valley, and so do our businesses and homeowners. The Coachella Valley Regional Water Management Group is helping to address our water and planning needs. I offer a one-stop-shop website where you can find classes, rebates and events that are close to your home: www.CoachellaValleyConservation.com Once I am elected, I would like to have unique programs for water conservation, with these questions in mind: Is city government and planning commissions working closely enough with our water agencies? Can we do more with similar industries working together such as our hotels, restaurants, golf courses and city governments? I also propose to work in conjunction with the DWA and Palm Springs Board of Realtors and the California Desert Association of Realtors and strongly encourage them to create pamphlets for new home buyers on water conservation, so that we can teach our desert water needs to these new home buyers. Additionally, I plan to offer more classes and workshops, off- or online, including free landscaping classes, and provide a greater variety of classroom-oriented programs for both students and teachers.
