Moving soon? I highly recommend a Budget Rental Truck.

16' Budget Rental TruckAs we watched my Mother-In-Law age, it became apparent that we needed to move her closer to us in the small town of Cotati. After a bit of research, I helped her fill out an application to be put on the waiting list at  Charles Street Village, a Senior housing complex.

And waiting we did, we waited for almost 4 years. In the middle of June, I got the call ... "your mother-in-law is at the top of the list, can you bring her in for an interview?".

She made the cut, and for the past two months I have been super busy driving back and forth (over 300 miles round trip) to her apartment in Sonora to help pack and to plan her move.

When it came time to reserve a truck, I received quotes from all of the top brands, Budget being one of them. Budget was hands down the most reasonable when it came to cost, especially when I applied a discount code I had received from AARP.

Charles Street Village in CotatiFrom there, things got even better. I called to ask if I could pick up the truck on a Sunday morning. No, they said, we aren't open on Sundays but you can pick it up on Saturday before we close, no extra charge. Wow, really? That gave me an extra few hours to load!

When I arrived to pick up the truck, I tried to purchase some additional miles. I explained that their mileage allowance wasn't sufficient for my move since neither the pick-up or drop-off places were in the towns we were moving from or to. Their response? "We can't have you being worried about a few extra miles, we'll comp you an extra 100".

When you are under the stress of moving, (and believe me, it is STRESSFUL) anything that can be done to make things easier is REALLY appreciated. I highly recommend a Budget Rental Truck for anyone who is a "do-it-yourself" mover.

Thank you Budget, for making my Mother-In-Law's move much easier than it could have been.

I help brokers build businesses they love.

What a nice thing for the people at Budget to do. I hope your Mom quickly settles into her new home, which looks lovely.

Leslie - it is a fantastic place, I LOVE it. It's 1/2 mile from my house so I can be there for her at a moments notice. Yes, it was really nice of Budget to comp me some miles. I figured out I went 17 miles over the original allowance which would have cost her $12.75. Sometimes it's the little things in life that make a difference ... I didn't have to worry about it during the 4 hours I was driving that 16 foot truck.

John - the customer service was first class, I will be recommending them to all of my buyer clients.

It's always nice to hear about a company going above and beyond.  Glad that you got your mother in law moved too.

Jim- yes, wasn't that cool of them to do that? My MIL is on a meager fixed income (social security) so the extra savings was very helpful for her. Every penny counts at the age of 81.
