So I was looking up recent news for Rancho Cucamonga and I found out that Michelle Obama actually featured us on her Let's Move website. The mayor of Rancho Cucamonga actually wrote a newsletter called," City of Rancho Cucacmonga, California creates Healthy RC" and it became featured from there. It turns out that the county has the highest death rate from heart disease and it also has the ninth highest death rate from diabetes. Studies also show that two out of every three residents are considered obese or overweight and three out of every four school children do not meet fitness standards. Now I'm pretty sure your concerned on your wondering why this rate is so high and studies show that it is because it has the state’s worst access to healthy food with six times as many unhealthy food retail outlets as healthy ones.
Rancho Cucamonga's response to the startling news was establishing a program called Healthy Rancho Cucamonga. Which therefore endorsed healthy and sustainable lifestyle. Healthy RC is the overarching theme of the City’s recently updated General Plan. Which will also ensure the continuation of land use policies and community design that facilitates healthy eating and active living initiatives among children and families in Rancho Cucamonga. And to further the efforts of healthy living, the City was awarded a four-year grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities initiative to prevent childhood obesity.
