October Snow on Sandia Mountain Looks Like Powdered Sugar

By
Real Estate Agent with Albuquerque Homes Realty 16572

Our first October Snow on Sandia Mountain Looks Like Powdered Sugar.  This years Albuquerque Balloon festival was a huge success,  the weather for the first weekend was absolutely gorgeous and the balloons flew perfectly inside of the “Box” with ease and grace. This past weekend was a different story, the winds of change blew in our first real cold front, rain and yes snow on the 10,600’ Sandia’s.  What a beautiful backdrop for the balloons that were able to fly although for a much shorter time this past Saturday and Sunday.  I wish I had been on the balloon field to capture some photos of those spectacular and colorful balloons against snow sugared Sandia’s.  Here are few photos of the Albuquerque Sandia Mountains showing our first snow fall of 2011.

Hey John-that description is perfect-it does look just like powder on top. Is that the Q sprawling in the valley there?

Now those are just too gorgeous, John. I love mountains-maybe because we don't have any here in Florida. I can't believe that snow is here already.

John, WOW back at you. Those are some goregous photos. Professional. I love the mountains and all the seasons that come and go with them. It's nice that you can just step out your doore and take the shot. We have snow back on Mount Shasta already. He usually goes bare for about a month in Setpember before he is snow-capped again. Never lost the snow this year and he's already white topped again. Profile photos is nice....change is good....bring the other back again soon. Both are very ncie! Have a beautiful day.

John, your Sandias look gorgeous with a dusting of snow.   Weather was a bit werid over the weekend, but glad it did not damper the launch of the balloons.

Hello Carol,  I'm sure being in Florida it is hard to imagine Snow in early October.  Actually its a bit early even for us but we got a nice cold front with some moisture that we desperately needed.  Have a great day the Sunshine State.

Hi Toni,  So glad you enjoy the beauty of our Sandia mountains.  I think were pretty blessed to see them every day.  As I responded to Carol it really was a bit early for snow even for us in The Q.  Enjoy your day!

Hi Jenean,  I bet Mt. Shasta is beautiful indeed.  Hard to believe he can hold snow all year!  That what altitude and abundance of snow will do.  Appreciate the kudos on the photography, we really enjoy capturing nature.

Make it great day in Redding!

Hi John - Great photos - I always love to see that first snowfall in the mountains, a great sign of what's soon to come. And I'm glad the Balloon Festival was its usual success. BTW, whatever you did with your picute worked - you look normal in Firefox now. Have a great day!

Hi Dick -

Glad to see you in the Rain today.  Oh yes I've always loved to see snow on the Sandia Mountain top!  With the summer being in a severe drought I am all for each drop or flake that we are blessed with.

About the photo.  Active Rain ended up working on it  for quiet some time yesterday in order to get the problem corrected.  I didn't ask any questions as I was out the door with business but am glad I'm not distorted and pink any longer.  Must laugh at your "normal" statement.  Didn't think I'd ever looked normal.   LOL.

Have a great day and best regards from The Q

John - we have another wonderful photographer in the Rain! You work is outstanding and the mountains look beautiful covered with snow. What kind of camera do you use - you must have a wide angle lens. Breathtaking photos! I hope you put these in the "Photos" group!

Hi Kristine-

Glad you dropped by today.  I think it's more good luck than being a good photographer.  We do seem to grab the camera each time we head out the door in hopes of a great shot for our personal collection.  Actually I don't normally use the Photo group.  I did for a few weeks but didn't' get much response so I moved on.  Maybe I should rethink and post in that group again.

Best regards from The Q

Hi John.  Looks like someone sprinkled powdered sugar on them for sure.  Reminds me of some brownies I make with sprinkled powdered sugar on top.  Ok - now I have a chocolate craving.  Darn!

John,  I rifled through my cupboards and guess what..... no brownies.  Darn.  Now I have to go to a jewelry party.  Hope she has chocolate.  If not, maybe Will can whip up some of his secret recipe brownies.  He won't share the recipe no matter what.  I have threatened him with everything and he won't give it up.  The good thing is that I can't make them - he has to.  Hopefully he has all the secret ingredients at his house.  Sounds like a fine chore for him tonight while I am off buying jewelry.  Lol

Belinda.  Ok now I'm really craving those brownies and tad jealous.  The Mrs. did not take my heavily emphasized suggestion instead she says eat a Banana. I want brownies for crying out loud! You have fun spending your hard earned money on on those Jewels.
