Fall Season of Miracles - A Dream 23 Years in the Making

My Grandfather died 23 years ago this month, and last night was the very first time he has ever made an appearance in my dreams.

This is me and Grandpa in March of '78... was barely a year and a half old, but I knew I wanted that present he was opening... it was his birthday...

My Grandfather was a very dear man. He died when I was only 12 years old, a 7th grader in Junior High who could have used many more years with him in my life.

For some reason, I like psychic stuff. I used to watch John Edward and James Van Praagh, they just amazed me. When I was pregnant this past year and couldn't sleep in the middle of the night, I started watching The Ghost Whisperer and got hooked.

I've always left myself open for "possibilities"... you just never know...  My mom always thought it was hooey.  I would say something about why Grandpa wouldn't at least visit my dreams, and she would say something about how he never believed in that kind of stuff so I would be waiting a long time for that to happen.  He was big on tangible stuff, stuff you can touch.

So, when I woke up from this dream this morning, in awe that the baby slept through the night, I got a huge smile on my face!  It took 23 years, but he finally made an appearance in my dreams!  He looked like he did back in the mid-80's and he was dressed in uniform from the picture I hold most vivid in my memory.  We didn't actually talk, it was weird. We were part of a "Soap Opera" and someone was trying to change the DNA of a dead person, so he used a juice box to mix new DNA... I'm very into Forensics and love all those Forensic shows like CSI, but I never thought about juice boxes and mixing DNA like Kool-aid...

Just because my Grandfather never believed in the after-life or dead people coming to you in dreams, to me, it's a miracle that he finally made himself appear to me after all these years!  I believe my positive attitude of always wanting to make a connection with him finally paid off. This is one of my Fall Season of Miracles... and I hope he actually talks with me the next time he makes an appearance!

Great story Donna and such a great photo of you and your Grandpa.  I hope the next time he visits, you will indeed have a conversation. :-)

Ironic Donna. I just dreamt of my grandmother last night also, although she's left us just recently. Very cool picture of you two

I can completely relate to this Donna and how important it was for you to see him.  I had a grandmother that I was extremely close to die way to early in her life and I always felt "slighted" (if that makes sense) that she never came to me in my dreams.  23 years is a long time to wait but well worth the time it took for him to come back to you if only in your dreams.

Donna, I was thinking of my grandfather just a few days ago. He passed away when I was 18. He was such a great person and everyone addored him. He loved fishing and taking my younger brothers and me with him when we visited. Time may pass, but we do have the memories.

Donna - Both my parents died earlier this year.  I thought for sure I'd have dreams about them, but so far not even one.  I think that's amazing that he came into your dreams finally after 23 years.  I'll bet he's in another CSI episode.  You know how soap operas are.  You can't watch just one.

Donna - My grandparents float around in my dreams quite a bit now that I am older, but when they passed, it took time.  Not sure why.  I have not seen them in awhile.  I think busy has quieted my dreams and I need to slow down a bit to hear them again!

I was very close to my grandparents and know that I will see them again.  I'm glad your grandfather came to visit you in your dream.  Maybe he will visit often.

We've started watching "Long Island Medium" on TLC.  The stuff she's done on there is downright amazing. She's so right on the money with stuff that it makes it look staged.

My wife lost her dad several years ago...he was only 41 and she has always longed for him to contact her from beyond, so this type of stuff is particularly fascinating to her.

Donna: The older you get the more this will happen. Seems your mind goes backward in your dreams and when you don't expect it something will just pop up. Someday in a dream you will hear a little phrase that will awaken a memory.

Donna, time is probably irrelevant to your grandfather, I guess he came when he felt like it!

I have never dreamed my grandparents. But my sister who lived with my mom and grandfather did. She said for weeks after he died, he would come into her bedroom early in the morning and ask her to make him some coffee... I guess he didn't know he was dead.

This gives me hope that eventually one of my wonderful grandparents will speak to me in a dream.  I miss them all so very much.  Grandparents are such a special part of our lives and I wish often that I had them to discuss business with now.  They were always so full of wisdom!  How cool is it that your grandfather came to you after all these years--next time he WILL speak to you!  Keep the faith!
