Shubh Deepavali! I Wish you a Bright and Prosperous Diwali and a Wonderful Year Ahead!
By Michelle Carr Crowe, Silicon Valley guide and Cupertino real estate agent selling San Jose homes
Diwali (also known as Deepavali and Divali) is celebrated throughout South Asian countries and by people from India, Myanmar and the United States (especially in the multicultural capital of the world, Silicon Valley).
Diwali is an important holiday to people who follow the Hindu, Buddhist and Jain religions, as well as residents from many parts of Asia and India.
From Sunnyvale to San Jose, to Saratoga to Cupertino, from Fremont to Santa Clara, Diwali is a time for people in Silicon Valley to celebrate. For example, the Cupertino Diwali festival earlier this month hosted over 10,000 people, reputed to be the largest Diwali gathering in the U.S. (The earlier date was chosen to encourage participation by anyone wishing to join in, and to avoid conflict with temple celebrations).

Known as the festival of lights, Diwali symbolizes victory of light over the darkness at a multitude of levels.
Even the President of the United States Barack Obama wishes you a Happy Diwali.
The five-day Diwali celebration features lanterns, fireworks, storytelling, family time and of course, music, dancing and feasts.
I and my team wish you, your family and loved ones a Happy Diwali!
The Diwali Festival of Lights celebrates the beginning of the new business year in India with music, dance, food, and time together with loved ones.
