Please help me welcome two new additions to the AR Family!  While officially, they aren't members, I'm pretty confident that there will be occasional information and updates from and about them.

Introducing, Sammi and Rodeo!

Sammi and Rodeo

Many of you know, that we lost our beloved Mini Aussie, Rodney, several weeks ago.  His death was so very unexpected and a complete shock to us.  The news came to us while we were on vacation.

Well, after several weeks we were finally feeling the need to bring a new fur child into our home.  Sammi and Rodeo are two Mini Aussies that came to us from two different rescue groups.  We met Rodeo (he's the smaller one in the front of the photo) last Monday up in Grants Pass.  He's definitely a shy boy and is in need of a lot of love and attention.  We put in our adoption application and were accepted!  He arrived at our home permanently on Friday evening.

Earlier in the day on Friday, we got to meet Sammi for the first time!  We had been in contact with the SPCA over the past few weeks regarding her.  She had been down in California and they were trying to get her transported back up to Oregon.  She arrived back up here on Thursday and we immediately made plans to meet her on Friday.  It was love at first sight!  She's a complete love and an absolute ham!  We're certainly hoping that her outgoing personality will begin to rub off on little Rodeo and that he'll start to come out of his shell.  He's going to need a lot of work, but he's definitely worth it!

The Burket household is thrilled to have eight new little legs roaming around!

Karen,  So happy to hear about your new additions.  They both have just beautiful markings.  Pretty soon you'll be saying, "What one doesn't think of, the other one will."  Looking forward to future posts about them.

Hi Mary!  Thank you so much!  I'll definitely have some added subject matter to blog upon.  They both really are so pretty and handsome.  Rodeo looks as if he could be Sammi's offspring, but they come from completely different parts of the state.  Have a great day and thanks for your visit.

Karen, I think Rodeo and Sammi are two blessed furry creatures! I know you will give them a wonderful home and how nice that you adopted them through the SPCA. I am also sorry about your loss. We do get so attached to these little creatures. Quigley, my little 7.5 lb long coat Chihuahua can drive me crazy, but I wouldn't want to be one day without him. Keep us posted!

Hi David!  Yes, losing a pet is oh so difficult.  There's a real "story" on how Rodney came into our life (he "found" us) so not having him here is still very hard.  But, I'm pretty certain he helped orchestrate Sammi and Rodeo's arrival from above.  Funny...Rodney came to live with us permanently on Veteran's Day, three years ago.  Sammi and Rodeo arrived on Veteran's day too.  Quigley..I love that name!  I'll bet it fits his personality!   Thanks for your visit and I'll definitely keep you posted.  Thanks again!

Karen, I think you will find Rodeo will be the one that rides away with your heart. They both look great, and they are both really lucky dogs. (pun intended)

Thank you, Scott!  I think you are right.  He's our "special" boy and really really needs so much from people who care about him!  Whatever his "past" might have been would only break my heart.  He so deserves another shot at a better life!  Thank you, m'friend!  :)

Karen ~ I missed this post.  I've been grieving my little Kobi.  I am so glad you found these 2 sweet little ones!  I am not ready to move on, but I know I will eventually.  Sammi and Rodeo will bring so much joy and laughter into your household.  And I am sure Rodney did have participation in their arrival!

Dawn...I know exactly how you feel!  Bill was really ready earlier than I was to add to the family.  Somehow, their arrival was just "meant to be" considering the timing and all.  All the best to you Dawn!

Thank you Elyse for your kind thoughts!  We're pretty smitten with these two already!  Have a great weekend and thanks again for the wishes.

Hi Karen. I can't believe I missed this. I love the picture and the narrative. It appears Rodeo has already come a long way and Sammi will help you help him. I am very happy for you.     Sheila

Thank you, Sheila!  Rodeo is really starting to come out of his shell.  He does really well with me but is still somewhat hesitant around Bill.  Sammi really tries to "boss" him around.  Rodeo does his best to tolerate her.  Earlier this morning there was quite the ruckus as they were  chasing each other throughout the house and really playing it up!  I was glad to see Rodeo engage so well.  Thanks for the well wishes and have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
