Thursday, November 17th

White Tank Mountain Regional ParkDesert Plants and Adaptation at White Tank Park.  A short, informative two hour hike around Black Rock Short Loop.  Discover the flora and how it adapts to the desert evironment.  This hike may not be of interest to young children and no dogs allowed.  Meet in Area 4 at 9am.  There is $6 per vehicle park entry fee.  For more information www.maricopa.gov.

Friday, November 18th

Black Rock Archeology Hike at White Tank Park.  This 1/2 mile hike on a flat trail will discuss the history and lifestyles of the native people that used to inhabit the area.  In fact it is the most concentrated collection of Hohokam and Yavapai petroglyphs in the Valley.  The park ranger will try to decipher the meaning of some of the ancient writings along the trail.  The hike begins at Area 4 at 8:30 am.  This hike may not be of interest to young children and no dogs allowed.  There is $6 per vehicle park entry fee.  For more information www.maricopa.gov.

Saturday, November 19th

4th Annual West Valley Senior Games at Pebblecreek in Goodyear.  The 4th Annual Senior Games for participants 50 and older is hosted by the Luke West Valley Recreation Committee and is endorsed by Arizona Senior Olympics.  Activities begin at 8am and include sporting events, tennis, swimming, pickleball, softball, Wii bowling tournament, bocce and much more.  If you are interested in particpating in the event as a particpant or sponser register on the West Valley Recreation website.

Nature Pond Grand Opening at White Tank Park.  Grand opening of the new nature pond interpretive site will feature presentations by Arizona Game and Fish, Regional Park Rangers and other wildlife experts.  The event runs from 11am to 1pm.  Park in the Horse Staging Area and follow the signs.  There is $6 per vehicle park entry fee.  For more information www.maricopa.gov.  

Sunday, November 20th

Arts in the Park Concert Litchfield ParkArts in the Park Concert in Litchfield Park.  The Rave will be performing on the Front Lawn of the Wigwam from 3pm to 5pm.  Bring your lawn chairs to this free event featuring top 40 hits, 1950's to the present.  

Wigwam Farmer's Market in Litchfield Park.  Join Duncan Family Farms along with other top Valley farmer's, and local artisians every Sunday on the Wigwam Front Lawn.  From 8:30am to 12:30pm.  For more information visit www.wigwamresort.com.


Upcoming Events:

Job Fair for Veterans at Wigwam in Litchfield Park Saturday Nov. 26.  State Rep. Jerry Weiers has organized a job fair for veterans in the west valley hoping to help local unemployed veterans find a job before the holidays.  Rep. Weiers teamed up with the Employer Partnership of the Armed Forces and the Wigwam to organize this event.  The Arizona Department of Economic Security will provide computers so applicants can submit job applications online.  Bring your resume.  If you don't have one, there will be people there to help you create one.  According to AZCentral.com, 150 turkeys have been donated to veterans who attend the job event.  The job fair runs from 8am to 4pm at the Wigwam in Litchfield Park.  

Christmas in the Park Litchfield ParkGlendale Glitters Spectacular Weekend November 25th & 26th.  On Nov 25th the City of Glendale will kick off it's holiday tradition, Glendale Glitters with a lighting ceremony at 5:30pm.  Glendale Glitters is the largest free holiday light display in Arizona with 1.5 million lights illuminating 16 blocks of Historic Downtown Glendale. A  The Glendale Glitters Specatular Weekend will feature holiday entertainment, delectable food, hand-crafted holiday gifts, a children's wonderland and petting zoo, horse-drawn carriage rides, shopping and Santa.  The Glendale Glitters Spectacular Weekend has been designated as an official centennial event by the Arizona Centennial Commission.  Admission is free and there are free shuttles available. Glendale annual holiday light display kick off weeknd will run from 5pm to 10pm Friday and Saturday evenings.  For more information www.glendale.az.com/events.  

24th Annual Christmas in the Park in Historic Old Litchfield December 10th.  Bring the entire family for a holiday fun packed day.  Litchfield Park is once again hosting Christmas in the Park with live entertainment, an art show with over 70 artists and craft vendors, snow, and visits with Santa.  There will be a holiday parade starting at 10am with marching banks, drill teams and floats. The free event runs from 9am to 4pm.  The craft booths open at 9am and the community parade starts at 10am.  Food will be available for purchase.  For more informations visit the City of Litchfield Park website
