There is good news for students in the Southeast Huntsville area. There is a new high school set to open on Garth Road. The new high school is tentatively set to open in 2009. Currently, many students in the area are attending Randolph School which is a private school for grades K-12.
There are 877 students currently attending Randolph School. The opening of the new high school will allow 275 students in grades 9-12 to move to the new building space and allow more space for grades K-8 who will remain at Randolph. The head of Randolph School projects that by 2014 there will be about 400 students at the upper school and about 700 at the lower school.
Hopefully, everything will go as scheduled for the opening of the new school. We know that overcrowding in classrooms and lack of sufficient space can have quite an impact on learning. I'm glad that the leadership of Randolph School is pursuing the needed steps to prevent this from happening here in our area. The campus will be great for our area and our children.
