December 2011 Blogging Challenge - Stressful Day
Last Friday, while driving back to my office, my power-steering went out in my car. I immediately called my mechanic, it was already 3:00 on a Friday afternoon, so he suggested I drop-off the car Sunday evening and they would get to it Monday.
I received a call after they inspected it on Monday and sure enough my power-steering pump had gone out. The part could not be purchased locally so it would take a couple of days to get it in but that I should have my car by Thursday (today).
I called this morning to see when the car would be ready. Unfortunately, the woman in the office had ordered the wrong part. My car is a 3.5L engine and she had ordered the part for the 2.7L engine. They called, re-ordered the part and requested it be overnighted. But they aren't making any guarantees that the car will be ready tomorrow.
Normally, that wouldn't be a problem. I don't have any appointments scheduled this weekend. The reason I don't have any appointments is because I took the weekend off to go to Illinois to see my family for Christmas. We are scheduled to leave early Saturday morning. Which means if my car isn't ready, my family of four will be traveling in our second car, a Chevy Cavalier.
Getting all the Christmas presents and luggage into this little coupe is not going to be easy. I had to quickly jump into high gear and shop for alternative gifts for the grandkids. We had purchased some big items that probably were not going to fit in the Cavalier. Not to mention, I also had to drive my son to work and then from there to church for a rehearsal.
And as it always happens, there was a problem with a showing today on one of my listings that I had to attend to as well.
All-in-all, a very stressful day.
