Does Big Bird Live In Santa Fe?

When was the last time you did something for the first time? For me, it was just the other day before the first series of snow storms arrived and made travel on our numerous dirt roads more challenging than usual. We all know real estate can get boring going in and out of houses all day long.  On this day, it was worse. We (my real estate partner, Ulla Allyn and I) were on the road when we took an unexpected wrong turn into adventure rather than stopping at Harry's Roadhouse for lunch. I really can't remember how we got here given all the twists and turns as Ulla will tell you my navigation skills are borderline dangerous. She is thankful we are not flying a plane. Anyway, the next thing we see is this nest and not the house we expected to preview!

Now, I will never forget this nest and what happened next. Sadly, this is the only picture. It is a good thing as otherwise the others would be on Facebook forever! Fortunately, we made it out not covered in feathers or as you can imagine anything worse. As far as we can tell this mysterious Big Bird is alive and happy and landing somewhere in Santa Fe, perhaps at a home near you...

This is really cool, Emily! My wife and I used to live in Albuquerque and would love going up to Santa Fe to wander around. Usually, this is how we find all of the really neat stuff; by getting lost!

Good Grief, Emily - is that the nest of the legendary Roc, or perhaps a Phoenix? Maybe there are pterodactyls still running around out there. That's actually kind of scary if it's real.

Yikes!  What a sight!  I wouldn't have wanted to wait around to see what was going to return to its nest!

Rick, getting lost is always the best way to find new things!

Dick, yes, it was real! I'm hoping a living Bird Aficionado can tell me the species that created this nest...

Francine, fortunately we were in a BMW with wings!

Emily,

That is amazing, maybe Santa Fe has a resident ornithologist who could shed some light on this nest.  What an amazing adventure you are having!  A

Hi Emily,

That is a huge nest. I cannot imagine what would have such a large nest? Everyone is looking for the Loch Ness monster and Big Foot but here you have a real nest. It would be interesting to lie in wait to see what came back at dusk.
