Not So Speechless Sundae - Some More Thoughts from Hot Springs, NC

It’s a very small world sometimes. I had dinner with a friend who bought her house through us last year. One of her guests lives in Charlotte but travels frequently in Western North Carolina. The topic of Hot Springs, NC came up and turns out he was very familiar with the Victorian house we recently put under contract. - friends of his had tried to purchase the house at one time!  This body of water that I've been so fascinated with the last week, Spring Creek, seems to be a real connection point with so many people.

I have never seen a river that I could not love. Moving water…has a fascinating vitality. It has power and grace and associations. It has a thousand colors and a thousand shapes, yet it follows laws so definite that the tiniest streamlet is an exact replica of a great river." - Roderick Haig-Brown

We let a river shower its banks with a spirit that invades the people living there, and we protect that river, knowing that without its blessings the people have no source of soul. - Thomas Moore

Water is fluid, soft, and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong. - Lao-Tzu (600 B.C.)

Hi Mona: Did I miss a post (and picture!) about the Victorian house? That would be a bummer as I find Victorians have so much soul ... Love your pictures and quotes of course - especially the last one. I have a lot of respect for the rivers - how quickly can they turn into raging waters and after some time return to such calmness. Have a beautiful Sunday!

Hi Mona,

I love the shots of the water and streams. How is the trout fishing? Any good?

As many of you gals have been asking for another picture of me and my truck, well here it is.

I hope to make a trip this summer to North Carolina. I already have a date  to go catch crabs with Amy. Sounds funny, HUH.

Hope you like the picture. Let me know.

BTW, I did shave the beard off. LOL

Have a great day in Sylva, North Carolina.

Best, Clint McKie

Gorgeous photo's, as always, Mona...but I kinda thought from the title that I might be seeing some pics of ice cream (or was that just a tease to catch the eye of the foodies, like me?!) :-)

Hi Ellie, unless it's the washing machine overflowing...running water is a plus.  Thanks.

Hello Andrea, no...I didn't post photos of the house because it was an ongoing transaction and I don't like to post about specifics until the transaction is resolved.  I loved the water though.

Clint, all I can say is that I would hire you in a heartbeat!  I sure hope I don't hear that you went to NC and didn't visit...unless you and Amy caught crabs lol

Will, the sun was warm the day I took these. Believe it or not the temps were in the 50s, just not over the creek.

Thanks Sheila, I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

I appreciate it Paul, I get a lot of satisfaction taking the photos and sharing them.

Belinda, does it help to think of all that snow as bodies of water?  It's got to go somewhere, right?

Hi Connie, Hot Springs is a beautiful area.  This creek eventually meets up with the French Broad River.

Oooh Karen, after all the sweets of the season...ice cream is the last thing on my mind lol.  Thanks.

Clint, I want a good week ahead here in NC.  I'm going to make it happen.  thanks for the second visit.
