The January 2012 Flooding in Katy, Texas

By
Industry Observer

This morning I woke up to a very hard rain. I got up to the smell of coffee my hubby was brewing. It is my day off with lots to do so I got up. The rain kept getting harder and harder. I told my husband why don't you wait until it subsides. I am so glad I did; it starting raining almost as hard as when IKE hit us, with nickel size hail the sky was as dark as night! I told my eldest to get up and pull his car in as the water was rising fast!

These pictures are taken in front of my home. The car on across the street was trying to drive by when some idiot came flying by and the waves he caused covered the entire car and that was the end of that car. What a total fricking idiot! You do not drive fast and much less in rain!

I am glad I had nowhere to be just taking down the rest of the Christmas decorations and getting ready to decorate for Valentine's day

Good afternoon Yolanda.

That is a lot of rain...

It was a beautiful sunny day in New York today.

I hope you have no flood damage.  We are getting a little snow in Maryland this evening.

What a great day to spend at home! Kind of like when we get a snowstorm in New England!

I have relatives in Texas (Frisco, Tx).  They have told me about the dry years these past two seasons.  I have been hopeful they would receive rain.  Perhaps I need to have a flow restrictor put on that prayer:-)

Hi Yolanda - wow - that is a lot of rain, and btw your neighborhood is beautiful.

What a great day to be at home taking down holiday decor. I did that over the past week, and glad it is down, sometimes clean feels so good.

Maybe I shouldn't admit that I was one of those "total frickin' idiots" when I was 18? LOL

Hi Yolanda,

Now that looks like some very deep water. That was a heckof a storm and more rain in a very short period than most of the supposed major storms. Thanks for sharing. I would not want to drive through that mess!
