More great news for Brevard County, Florida! According to a recent Florida Today article, 100 new jobs are coming to the Space Coast!
A five-year, $138 million NASA contract was just announced for a.i. solutions, inc., a space-industry company that is headquartered in Lanham, MD, and currently employs over 200 engineering, science, and IT professionals. The new contract will create about 100 new high-paying engineering positions at Kennedy Space Center in the areas of preparation and launch for NASA’s next generation of spacecraft. The contract is called “Expendable Launch Vehicle Integrated Support 2″, and will be based at Kennedy Space Center in Brevard County, Florida, but will also include operations at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, as well as other launch sites.
Hiring for the new jobs will start on February 1, 2012 with a job fair in Cape Canaveral. The skills needed for the new positions are similar to the skills that were needed for the shuttle program, which ended in July. It is expected that many of the recently laid-off aerospace workers may fit the job description perfectly. Marisa Achee, a.i. director of operations, was quoted as saying, “We know there is a lot of great talent in the area for us to pick from”, speaking of the highly educated and skilled workforce in Brevard County, FL.
The job fair will be held on Wednesday, February 1 from 3pm – 7pm at the Radisson Resort at the Port in Cape Canaveral. You can also check a.i. solutions’ website at a.i. solutions, inc.
