After being sick with the flu for the past 2 days I had a lot of time to think about my business and where it’s going in the long run – not a 2012 business plan, that’s taken care of but… 3, 5 and even 10 years from now.
I am very fortunate to have someone that can fill in for me showing to clients in the event that I get sick. It’s not very often that I get sick but, when I do it’s normally the kind of flu that glues me to the couch.
What if that person goes in a different direction and isn’t in a position to continue being my backup or what if they’re sick the same time I am? My business partner would gladly fill in if she was able too but, her schedule is just as full as mine. As a safety net I think it’s time that I find someone to be a backup to my backup. Missing appointments isn’t an option for me, from a customer service aspect it’s just plain rude. I can handle emails even if I’m really sick but, knowing that I always have someone I can count on to meet clients in the instance something prohibits me from going is peace of mind that I plan on adding to my long term business plan.
