Taking it off and keeping it off!

Losing it in the rainThanks to the wonderful members of the “Take it off in the Rain” group for all your support. Since my last report in about 2 weeks ago I’ve lost another 5 lbs and I’m now down to 177lbs. But, my trainer says she isn’t done with me yet.

So, she now has me drinking a Muscle Milk a protein drink before and after my workouts. Though I wasn’t sure about the stuff at first she is expecting me to lose about another 5 lbs before I start actually gaining weight in the form of muscle.

I have to say, this is where it is going to get hard for me when it comes to progress. Weight loss is something you can see on a scale daily and the progress was easy to monitor. But, now I’m told I’m going to be gaining weight by putting on muscle. Muscle isn’t something that shows up quickly like weight loss.

So, now I have to wait to see my progress every month in the form of measurements and hope that I actually getting bigger. I’ve been told to stay off the scales but once a month as well because I might get discouraged if I see weight gain without actually seeing the results on the measurements.

So, on the 8th is when my next weigh in will be and when my next measurements will be taken. Then after that it will be around the 8th of every month. I promise right around the 8th, I will report in with my measurements from the 8th of January vs my February measurements.

Thanks for the encouragement.

You are our point leader.  But you are not making many points with us who have yet to duplicate your weight loss.

You are just getting farther ahead.

:-)

Way to go, Thin Man.

I'll bet Mitt Romney not only has a Trustee (this is a debate watcher in-joke) - I'll bet he has a personal trainer.

All you millionaires have one.

Oh, did, I get something wrong there?

Does it have to be Muscle Milk?

Won't eating some Milk Duds right before and after workouts do just as well?

Speaking of muscled specimens:

Have you taken your home scholars over to see the Body Worlds and the Brain over at OMSI yet?

We went yesterday:   Simply amazing.

$25 for adults, $17 for kids (Drop by a local hotel and pick up a tiny coupon for $3 off those prices.)

Plan on 3 hours.  You will be captivated.

The exhibit sounds irreverent:   Plasticized dead bodies (of real people) and all.

But it's not.

One of the highlights is a plasticized, full grown Giraffe.....opened up to show all the internal organs.  Wow!

But the lessons on human anatomy are legion.

The first thing my grandson told his dad (who does NOT smoke) was that he saw a set of regular lungs along side the lungs of a smoker and a coal miner.

The constrast was stark: on set of lungs was white, the others looked like the inside of my chimney.

I am reminded of why I never started.

Having him take only that away from the experience was worth several times the price of admission.

Jim, how weird, we were there Tuesday. It was so amazing, but I was a little shocked at the price since we were members and all previous exhibits had been free to members. We did get a little bit of a discount though.

Todd - This week I was down 3.8 lbs. Drop in the bucket compared to your accomplishment, but I am happy with the results I am getting from my 2nd boot camp. Keep up the good work.

Hey, Todd!  Good for you!  And remember that muscle weighs more than fat, ao I'll bet you lost a lot more fat weight than your scale indicates.  You're inspiring me.

Pat that is what I keep telling myself and that is why it is going to be so hard not to weigh myself everyday like I had been and instead go on measurements.

Lets shake things up at your home today!

Todd, I am so sorry I missed this when it was posted, this has been a crazy week.  Congratulations on "dropping" 5 pounds.  You're doing it the right way sir, and everyone in the group is behind you and here to support you.  I do a post every Tuesday morning and members weight in...........would love to see you there next week reporting your progress.  It's a fun group, no pressure, just a bunch of us all working towards the same goal, dropping a few excess pounds,  eating healthier, exercising and feeling better about ourselves.

There is also a little quiz every week must for fun and on Wednesday I do a post, my version of "The Biggest Loser".............it's the "Star Of The Week"..................the person who dropped the most weight the week before.

Hope to see you there.
