Kinderberry Hill Announces Children Book Drive Benefit
In honor of “Read Across America Day”, Kinderberry Hill Child Development Center, Woodbury, announces a Children’s Book Drive to benefit the local nonprofit organization Read Indeed.
The Children’s Book Drive will take place February 20 to March 2, 2012. The community is encouraged to bring donations of new and gently used children’s books to Kinderberry Hill, located at 1205 Woodbury Drive, during business hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Read Across America Day is an annual event that encourages adults to take time to read with a child. It is celebrated on the anniversary of Dr. Seuss’ birthday, March 2.
Read Indeed was started by Maria Keller, a book-loving 6th grader from Plymouth, MN. Maria wants to make the world a better place—one book at a time. She hopes to collect and distribute 1 million books to needy children by the time she's 18. To date, Maria has distributed over 500,000 books around the world.
“As childhood development professionals, we are passionate about nurturing a love of books at an early age,” said Kathy Sjursen, Executive Director of Kinderberry Hill, Woodbury. “We are thrilled to assist a remarkable young lady like Maria Keller in her quest to spread the joy of reading to more children.”
All six Kinderberry Hill locations will participate in the book drive. For more information on the Children’s Book Drive, call Kinderberry Hill at 651-209-6690 or visit www.kinderberryhill.com or www.readindeed.org
