SERENDIPITY - BRIARWOOD FRIENDS IN COMMON

BRIARWOOD is a great neighborhood for walking.   Preparing for the open house at 3305 Bondwood on Sunday,  I walked a couple of blocks of Briarwood on Saturday afternoon, passing out flyers and the ever-popular refrigerator magnet calendars and business cards with calendar on the back – meeting interesting people.   This is always a productive and pleasant thing to do.

Come see this great house to get your calendar or if you want to talk about real estate - your own, someone else's, or someone who needs my help finding a good agent anywhere, or come see this special house.)

A few months ago, I took time off to go to the plant swap at Mizes, where I met a couple of ladies with whom I chatted briefly.   They told me that the plant swap had started at 11:00 sharp and was over quickly, so I was too late for anything but the raspberry plants.   We talked about gardening and plant swapping.

I told them that I often give plants from my yard to people who are buying homes.   When I told them I was a real estate agent and gave them the usual magnet calendar, Mary said she’d be glad if I would sell her friend’s  house.   No, it wasn’t on the market yet and the owner had been away for a good while.  My new friend was maintaining the yard and the friend had asked if she knew someone who might want to buy it – not a really aggressive sales pitch, but it may lead to something.

As soon as she named the street, I told her I’d shown a nearby house in that neighborhood two days before and was maybe about to list another one in the neighborhood.   She mentioned one property she knew about and we discovered that this owner was already a friend of mine and they’d already been talking to me about it.   I listed that one a few months later.

When I checked tax information about the her friend’s  house, I discovered that it had years ago belonged to the Youngs, friends of mine, and that Mary’s house had once belonged to someone from whom we’d almost bought another house years ago.  The one I’m holding open tomorrow also has belonged to two friends consecutively.   Small world, again.

Mary told me today about two more that were maybe about to come on the market.   As soon as she described the owners of one of them, we discovered that we had other close friends – these folks had talked to me before they decided not to sell last year, and now, thanks to this clue, I know I need to talk to them again.   The other I’ll contact early next week.

It was a lovely day.   Unfortunately I think it’s going to snow tomorrow.   Wish me luck

Mary!!!  These are ridiculous coincidences.  Your life seems very integrated.  You can't say "small world" enough.
