Now that we've established that Trulia's a waste of money, what's been your best investment in your real estate career?

Early responses suggest that I'm not alone in thinking I wasted my money with the Trulia ad.

This begs the question: What is NOT a waste of money?

Whether you're a seasoned RE veteran or a newbie like me, what has been your single most well-spent buck -- BESIDES joining Active Rain, of course!

Thanks, in advance, for your wise counsel, fellow Rainmakers!

In the past I paid for Adwords, I still pay for Zillow ads (going on 4 years now) and it hasn't yielded one dime.  I get inquiries all the time and when I try to contact the people they won't answer or respond and those that do are tire kickers who really had no intention of buying in the first place (or want to rent a 200,000 home that is for sale for 500/month).  I purchased other services of which I can't even remember what they are now with no results.  If you find any good "pay" services, I'd love to know what you come up with!

Thanks for this response, Chanda. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one.

At the moment I'm going through 33 Craigslist leads in an attempt to convert -- so many fake names and phone numbers! At least it didn't cost me anything. I would be very curious to hear what others are doing... successfully!
