lake lanierIf you live in Georgia, you know we're in a drought. You also know that Lake Lanier hasn't looked this good in awhile.

In response to the water crisis, Governor Sonny Perdue has mandated a reduction in water consumption by 10% from last winter's usage (December 2006 - March 2007).

To do that, of course, we all need to cooperate. But it's not as difficult as you may think. With a few simple changes to your regular water usage habits, you could save gallons and gallons of water!

The Fulton County government website (www.fultoncountyga.gov) contains all the information you need to conserve water and to evaluate your current usage.

For Residential Water Conservations Tips, as well as for Commercial and Municipal Buildings, click here.

If you are unsure of the efficiency of your home, or if you are just curious about your home's efficiency, Fulton County would like to provide you with water efficiency information. Simply fill out the Water Efficiency Audit form (click here), provided on the website, and send it back in.

With a little bit of effort and education, we can work together to get through the drought crisis - be proactive and start conserving water today!

Thanks for posting.  Yes, I'm sure most Georgians know about the drought but we need to be reminded.  If each of us does our part, then we should be okay... atleast until we can get some relief.

Hi, Venice! Thanks for reading and commenting. I think these tips can be really helpful because I think people want to help, they just don't necessarily know how to.

We all have to do our part.  My wife and I leave a large paint bucket in our shower; so when we run the water to let it warm up before we get in it goes into the bucket rather than down the drain.  Then we can use that to water our bushes/trees from time to time to keep them from dying.  Every little bit helps.
