Real Estate KloutWhy do Klout scores matter for real estate agents?

Imagine you are faced with this listing presentation question:

“What makes you stand apart from Agent X?”

Being a savvy real estate marketer, you present the seller with your Klout Score of 65.  Then, you show them the competing agent's Klout Score of 18.  You have hard stats to demonstrate that your online influence is going to help you market their their home via the internet better than Agent X.

This interview between IMSD Founder Ben Kinney and Klout's marketing manager Megan Berry provides insight into how Klout measures your overall online influence as a real estate agent. Klout scores for real estate are calculated by looking at social networks like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and FourSquare.   The Klout Score measures influence based on your ability to drive action.

Watch this one hour webinar to learn how Klout scores are determined, the importance of Klout to real estate agents, and future plans for the Klout tool.

I saw my Klout score and I was so scared, never looked at it again - but I guess, time to improve the score and get listings...

Bob:

I just checked my Klout score and it had jumped 20 points in a month.  That is the month I joined Pinterest so I though that might be why I jumped so much.  My Klout score today is 46.  I don't know if that is good or mediocre.  Have to check on that.

The average score is 20. Anybody with 30 points or more are considered "social media masters," while 50 or above signals you have a big online following. I'm currently at 29, personally, but the more I Tweet, use Facebook, Linked'In, Google+, etc. my score slowly rises. They calculate the score exponentially. For example, the difference between an earthquake rated 5 on the Richter scale and an earthquake rated 6 is not the same 6 to 7. Or with the pH of water--7.0 is the cutoff point, meaning 6.9 is acidic and 7.1 is basic. The difference between a pH of 7 and 7.5 is not the same as 7.5 to 8. So the more points you get, the harder it is to gain more points, if that makes any sense.

Bob:

I listed to the webinar and found I was attended the webinar when it was originally done.  I had forgotten all about Klout scores.  The information is sticking with me the second time around.
