VISTA PC

By
Real Estate Agent with One Sothebys International Realty

About 6 weeks ago, my husband purchased a VISTA laptop computer for my business.  Since then, it has been difficult.   Presently, I can't print, despite having my office's printers installed & don't have Microsoft Word.   Wireless works fine.  VISTA is very different from Windows (or so the IT guy tells me) & my guess is that I don't know enough about this technology--frustration mounts!  I use the computer a lot in my business & have high hopes that, in time, I'll understand VISTA like I do Windows.   Anyone else going through these trials?  Any words of advice?

I installed Vista on a friends computer, and had a chance to check it out.  It appeared to be very similar to XP in design, only everything was moved around.  I didn't play with it long enough to notice any real advantages.  I think that it was a marketing ploy to make Bill Gates even richer than he already is.  I learned my lessons with the previous versions of windows, in that I won't install it on my system without waiting a couple of years.  You can always switch back to XP.

One of my daughters worked in IT for Turner Cable Company in Georgia and she told me not to buy VISTA yet. That it was full of bugs and most calls coming in from customers were those that had VISTA.

Let them get the bugs worked out of it, then get it.

Before i get into this, my background is as follows;

MCSE, MCP, MCP+I, CNA = basically a bunch of letters that mean i have a strong computer background(or i should anyway). I have built netowrks for Lockheed Martin for years...ok enough of that.

Vista-It's the same as anything else that is new...give it time you will get it and enjoy the product the way I do. There is a learning curve.

Billy MUST evlove and development new software, if he does'nt we all will be complaining about that.

As far as the bugs...nah...HOWEVER i have found there is uncompatible software out there.. alot of it. So be certain your present software will work with it.

Dalia,

Find a computer specialist and ask them to install windows xp.  Vista will be fine.... someday... till then... I recommend not using it.

Once again Dalia, there is nothing wrong with Vista. The only issues there could be is software compatibilities, which you should be certain your programs will work with Vista before installing them. You will know if your having software issues...

whenever Billy Gates introduces something new, everyone bashes it which builds a bad reputation, for no reason.

If you dont have the time to learn it, which being a realtor is a strong possibility, simply reinstall XP...but i totally disagree with Martin. My background is very deep with computers.
