Live Highlands Ranch : Love in Action Community Service Day
The Highlands Ranch Community Association is partnering with Cherry Hills Community Church for the third year on a large scale Highlands Ranch community clean up day. Love in Action on April 22nd. The day will consist of well over 2,500 volunteers going into the Highlands Ranch community to help with spring clean up projects such as picking up litter along major arterial streets, work to spruce up and beautify the schools, recreation centers, the Backcountry Wilderness Area and help with the recycle electronics event at the Town Center North.
The event is from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Several area restaurants will give our volunteers a discount if they have participated in the day's events and are wearing their event t-shirt when they come in. It will be a great opportunity to give back to our community and encourage our neighbors to reach out and help each other in times of need.
Together the Highlands Ranch Community Association and Cherry Hills Community Church will express LOVE in Action through hands-on outreach and service opportunities in our community. There are a variety of project in which to volunteer.
Service Opportunities
- Schools in Highlands Ranch/Sedalia/Castle Rock
Location: 32 schools (24 elementary, 4 middle, and 4 high schools) located throughout Highlands Ranch (all areas)
Exterior projects: landscaping (install new, modify existing, distribute/redistribute materials – grounds and playgrounds), weeding, raking, sweeping, painting/staining, window washing, and general clean up of each property (as well as a variety of special projects).
- Backcountry Wilderness Area
Location: Highlands Ranch
Projects: Trail Maintenance, Drainage Restoration, Barbed Wire Removal, Barbed Wire Installation, Weed Patrol
- Homes in Highlands Ranch
Location: 25 homes located throughout Highlands Ranch (all areas)
Exterior projects: landscaping, weeding, raking, pruning, sweeping, painting/staining, and general clean up of each property (as well as a variety of special projects).
- Prayer Walking
Locations: throughout Highlands Ranch
Project: teams walk throughout the Highlands Ranch community and pray for/with people.
- Streets in Highlands Ranch
Locations: throughout Highlands Ranch
Project: teams walk throughout the Highlands Ranch community and clean-up sidewalk areas along major thoroughfares (i.e., Broadway, University/Lincoln, Quebec/Monarch, and Highlands Ranch Pkwy./Colorado)
- Recreation Centers
Locations: Highlands Ranch Eastridge, Northridge, Southridge, and Westridge Recreation Centers
Exterior projects: landscaping, weeding, raking, sweeping, painting/staining, window washing, and general clean up of each property (as well as a variety of special projects).
- Event Support
Locations: Cherry Hills Community Church and other locations throughout Highlands Ranch
Projects: Assist with preparations for event such as volunteer registration, t-shirt distribution (Sundays prior to event and/or day of event), assembling and distributing snack packs, and providing event day support to field teams (i.e. providing water, snacks, tools, materials, supplies), other support for event as needed.
- Electronic Recycling
Locations: Highlands Ranch Town Center
Exterior projects: directing vehicles to drop-off location(s), unloading vehicles (taking electronic items from vehicles and putting them in trucks), organizing and securing the electronic items in trucks, collecting donations, and general clean up.
- Highlands Ranch Mansion Grounds
Locations: 1 in Highlands Ranch
Exterior projects: Scraping and painting barns and out buildings. A great opportunity to restore a historical landmark. Note: no one under the age of 15 is allowed to volunteer for this project.
