Two-second tip: how to drill a hole in your wall without making a mess

By

I heard Adam Carolla mention this quick tip, and it really works.  I had to pass this along.  If you need to drill a hole in your wall and you don't want to make a mess on the floor, just use a Post-it® note.

Paper under hole3/8" hole in a 2x6

You make a couple of quick folds, paste the paper on the wall, then drill your hole.  All of the drywall dust or whatever you're drilling in to will fall on to the paper.  Done and done.

Great idea!  I have used paper before with little success due to the ability of holding it in place, but this will work great!

I have never tried that, but it makes sense.  And later you can fold it up into a paper airplane!  Get rid of the sawdust first.

Erv - thanks, it really works.

Vern - I've tried the paper, as well as a 'cupped hand'... this is a lot better.

James - not any more :)

Donald - another Adam Carolla fan, no doubt.

Jay - a very, very tiny paper airplane.

When my kids were bored in church, I would give them pieces of paper to make an origami something.  Every time it was a different challenge.  They had great fun with it and something as small as a Post-It note would not be a problem!
