We visited Las Vegas, Nevada recently and walked up and down the 4.2 mile strip to see as much as possible, taking photos which you can see below.
Las Vegas was established in 1905. Elevation is a bit over 2000 ft and it's surrounded by mountains. The climate is high desert with low humidity, often under 10%, and the winters are mild.
Las Vegas has over 38 million visitors annually; many who attend the thousands of conventions and trade shows plus those who visit just for fun and gambling. Las Vegas is also called "the entertainment capital of the world", offering spectacular shows, luxurious hotels, fabulous restaurants and, of course, hundreds of chapels offering a variety of wedding venues.
The fountains at the Bellagio water show are delightful to watch every half hour between 3:00-7:00pm and then every 15 minutes until midnight. Each water show has its own choreographed interpretation of 32 different songs. There are 37 people who work behind the scenes every day to maintain the show.
Don’t miss the opportunity to admire the lobby of Bellagio with a huge colorful glass hanging from the ceiling by the famous artist Dale Chihuly and also the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens with floral arrangement changing for every season. One floral painting was modeled after Claude Monet’s “Fisherman’s Cottage on the Cliffs at Varangeville”. (see photo below).
The Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay is also worth seeing. There are numerous types of sharks, giant rays, sea turtles, piranha, golden crocodile and much more.
It was fun to see the famous hotels: New York New York, Paris, Monte Carlo, the Venetian, Caesars Palace, Mirage, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, MGM, Excalibur and many, many more.
Enjoy the photos
