Entry for Active rain Contest. Category Hardware.

I was licensed in 1992. Those were the days when I had to carry a lot of coins for the pay phone. I remember waiting for clients and they could not inform me that they were running late. I had to look for pay phones to call the listing agent that we are running late . There was one time my car broke down and I had to walk a few blocks to get to a phone booth to call for help.

I like to also use the Texting feature of the Blackberry. I was attending a Phillies game and it was loud . I could not hear the client so I negotiated via texting and texted to the other agent as well. One time I had presented an offer to an agent and he was at a meeting and could not talk to me so he texted me the counter. I had to inform a busy Doctor so I just texted the Doctor who agreed to the price and we had a sale.

I cannot imagine going anywhere without my Blackberry.

The Blackberry is also very useful to me because I can check my email. We receive leads from Re/Max and if we do not respond in a timely manner the lead goes to someone else. After I got my Blackberry I have not missed a lead. It used to be frustrating when I used to log in to my email in the morning and there was a hot lead overnight and it said it was assigned to someone else.

When I travel I do not have to worry about not having access to a computer. I can be in touch with my clients via email and also call if necessary.

I need not sit at my desk checking email any more.

Another great feature is the camera . If I do not have my camera with me and I need some pictures I can use my Blackberry and email it right away.

A Blackberry is two tools in one : cell phone and computer for emails . I cannot manage without it.

It has so many other features but I can do without the other features. If you do not have one yet you should get one .You can get a free one with data plans and two year contracts.

When you read about events please check the year for the event as some people find information a year later and think it is for that year. . The posts remain online even after the event.

Fernando, I agree. There was a time a cell phone was considered a luxury owned by the wealthy  and weighed a ton. the first time I saw one was with a Doctor client. She had a separate bag for it.

We are a retirment town and no one is in a hurry. I could make money opening a cell phone store if I could find cell phones with a rotary dial on them! I am hitting "suggest" as I do agree with you!

Love this post and best of luck in the contest, you got my vote!!  The contrast of 20 years is clear and having to find a pay phone nowadays would be the challenge ;-)

Gita, thanks for the update on Blackberry productivity, we really have come a long ways in the past few decades, amazing the things we can do without showing up at the office.

Dear Gita -

The smart phones make us look really smart too. They have so many features it is almost impossible to learn them all.

Did you know when the 911 disaster happened in NYC, Blackberry communications were the only ones that could get through reliably?

Have a happy day -
Lynn
