LEAD GENERATION WEBSITES

By
Real Estate Agent with One Sothebys International Realty

Recently, I was contacted by yet another lead generation website--would I consider joining for a minimum of 6 months, at about (can't remember exactly) $350 monthly?  Of course, I'd have to pay for the leads upfront.  The website people assured me that I'd receive a minimum of 10 leads monthly.  My question is, if these leads are so strong, why don't the website folks work them themselves, instead of selling them?  My guess is that many of these "leads" are probably folks with more time than money & the chances of going to a closing with any of them are remote.  My marketing dollars are better spent elsewhere.

Realty is a business with few shortcuts, I've found.  You still have to "press the flesh", get out there & WORK!  You gain credibility & confidence with every passing day.

Been there said NO! I can't believe how many people think they SHOULD be making a living off of selling us leads! You said it so nicely and with the fewest words!

Dalia -- I think you are absolutely correct!  Whenever people comment on these websites, they warn others to be careful.  It is about realtionship for sure!  Good luck to you - and go press some flesh!

You brought up some very good points.  I've been warned myself to stay away from them and I'm still keeping busy!

Dalia,

Your right, why pay for something that may not provide rain.  I signed on with an exclusive lead generation service through Homegain and I actively farmed to those leads and never got one to produce.  I did use another one of homegains services where I send a presentation to prospective buyers and sellers and compete against other agents, I got a few listings but I had to pay a steep 30% referral fee to on top of the $49 a month fee.

Overall I find that I get better results spending my money on SEO and organic lead generation.

Take care!

As long as tehre are agents who think they are the secret to success, they will continue to call. Been there, done that, lost money.... Getting leads is like you say - get out there!

Anybody that contacts you with leads, delete the email.  Nothing but a scam, they take your money and run. Your money will go farther by buying Google or Yahoo ads.

Dalia - Always lean toward the side of caution.  You never know what they are really about and if they have an alternative motive.  There are a number of scams out there.  Get out there to get those leads!
