Life is Good - A Day in The Sun

By
Real Estate Agent with DFW FINE PROPERTIES 0506509

A day in the sun at the Washington, D.C., Zoo proved to be worry-free because  LIFE IS GOOD!

After the REALTOR® Rally, which I wrote about in one of my recents posts, I spent some time enjoying the zoo. The people were just as interesting to me, as the animals. This Cheetah got my attention real quick and it didn't take long before people came in droves to see what I was seeing. Is it human nature for other people to be curious to know what others are interested in? I tested my theory.

I deliberately gravitated to parts of the zoo where nothing appeared to be seen; yet people followed. As a REALTOR®with the gift of gab, I talked to many people and discovered that families are motivated to buy homes because apartment living or renting does not meet their needs, especially where children are involved.

Every where I went, people talked and wanted to know how good the market was in Real Estate. People have been discouraged about what's being told in the media and they were more than eager to talk to me, someone in the profession from Texas, who came all the way to D.C. to go to the Rally - Why? Because Home ownership really does matter and I'm on a mission to help people understand, interest rates have never, in my life time ever been this low, and knowing, that people do desire home ownership means people need to talk to REALTORS® in the business. It's those that are in the know, who can help people own a piece of that good old American Pie.

My first home was bought in July, 1979 - Interest rate: 10.5% (VA Loan); second home in 1998 (perfect credit) 7.25%. Refinanced in April 2003 with perfect credit: 5.85%. Today, one of my clients just got approved for a 4.5% interest rate and we are negotiating an offer.

LIFE IS GOOD!

The cheetah is a natural born hunter who can move at a speed from zero to 40 MPH in 35 seconds to full speed in 70 MPH.

Today, houses are going under contract FAST!!!

REALTORS® - CAN MOVE THAT HOUSE!

Hi Patricia

A great shot of a beautiful cheetah.  Good that you were able to spread the GOOD NEWS instead of gloom and doom that we were all bombarded with for a couple of years!  Now for your phone to ring because you crossed paths with someone at the zoo!

I am glad that you had the opportunity to visit the National Zoo.  It is one of our favorite day trip destinations.

If you had called us, Dolores and I would have treated you to dinner in Kentlands.

Patricia, I love the Washington Zoo and love your examples of the homes which you bought and the interest rates. Interest rates are just amazing. Helping people understand home ownership is so vitally important and I applaud you and join you in this worthy endeavor.

That is a gorgeous cheetah, Patricia.  I'm glad you were close enough to him to get this great shot.  BUT, I'm also glad to see the cyclone fence to protect you in the foreground.  I hope you are having a glorious week!

Patricia, according to NAR, the median price of at homes increased 10% over last year!  That's incredibly significant.

I expect home lurkers will accelerate from zero to 70 MPH very quickly!

You're so on-point.  With interest rates at never before seen levels, and the national absorption rate down 3%, we'll being a lot more Cheatahs!   Brian

Patricia, back in Illinois in the '80's people were paying as much as 18% and yet homes were selling.  I typically get people into homes now with 3.75% rates...may dad had a mortgage in the '60's with a 4% rate.

So much to comment on here....

Love the zoo, any zoo, anywhere, anytime!

I agree watching people can be just as interesting.  Love how you played pied piper and moved people around like they were your puppets.  LOL!

Beautiful cheetah photo.

How you can remember the interest rate from your first two homes is beyond me!

Thanks all! Your comments are great - business is buzzing like crazing in TX and I'm happy and sad that I can't reply to each and everyone of you. In response to Nick Pappas, I closed on the last day in July, 1979 at 10.5% - that next Monday interest rates started climbing and yes, I remember people thought the interest rates would never end. Some were paying as high as 18.5%. And to think, salaries were so so - so was a loaf of bread and gas too! Although, I do remember vividly gas rations - those were terrible times and I like you survived!

And in response to Sharon, I remember those interest rates like they are my SS#. Home buying leaves indelible impressions - for me it was the interest rates!
