Choosing a real estate professional is a challenging task - there are many qualities a potential buyer or seller wants in an agent, and it's not always easy to find the right person.
Most buyers and sellers interview only one agent before hiring them. What is it about that one agent that convinced people to work with them?
A survey conducted by the New Jersey Association of Realtors interviewed buyers and sellers throughout the State of NJ and asked that question.
33% of all respondents said that they chose their agent based on the agent's honesty and trustworthiness. How do they measure honesty and trustworthiness? What is it that agents do to give their clients the sense that they can be trusted?
Real estate professionals who try to convince potential clients that their home is the best and they can sell it for twice the values of the comps aren't believable. Sellers are too savvy to fall for a smoke screen. Clients don't want a dog and pony show - they want integrity and truth. Don't try to deceive with mirrors and smoke - give them the straight story and they'll respect that a lot more.
