Howard County, MD
Home Residential Resale Statistics -- May 2012
The heart and soul of Maryland, Howard County had an excellent showing this May. Sales increased 36% compared to last year's May, going from $88 million to $120 million, and 13% compared to April. 20% less homes are listed as active, but that does not seem to be a problem in the current market. Homes sold on average in 82 days, down from 88 last year, though the average sold price decreased slightly: 2% compared to last year and .43% compared to last month, though that's not too significant of a change. The key lied in the number of units being sold: 218 last May as opposed to 304 this month, an absolutely dramatic increase. Both detached and attached units saw their sales go up, and only eleven homes took more than a year to sell. May was good to Howard County this year, and with any luck, the trend will continue through the summer.
