Historic places, mansions, residences in and around Milwaukee County

Milwaukee has had many of famous people come, and go through it. Some loved it that they made it their year round home. For example, Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fountain, which were the original silent films before talkies lived in a quaint little community call Genesee Depot. They would entertain Truman Capote, Cary Grant, Lawrence Oliviar, Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Kathryn Hepburn, Bob  Hope, Bing Crosby,  lots more of Entertainments's elite. Mrs. Lunt was just a normal lady that liked her garden and plants. She waved a lot. She had her plower and woven earth  peace on Earth right in front of her.

Ten Chinneys is now a musuem for people.

You will fund at times that I right about strange things. Onr thime when I was driving along with my grandfather the Oscar Meyer wiener mobile drove by. It was the coolest things I evr say. Osvar Meyer has a huge plant in Madison Wisconsin and offers tours of how the little delectibles are nade!!

Next I travel to the old Milwaukee port to see ships coming in, some trolley cars, and basic life.

It was not uncommow to see horse and wagons, trolley cars, and mmore make sure that daily lfe went one,

I have also seen the Oscar Mayer vehicle, some years ago... it's really quite a shock and you definitely do a double take!  I was hoping it was off the highways by now.     Not exactly good taste   :)

Great post,Tom~
Ten Chimneys is very beautiful. I love how it sits by the side of the hill.

This would be a great post in the Heritage Properties, Historic Sites and Antiques group, if you would consider reposting it and adding it to that group....I think you're already a member.

Tom - I wonder how many Little Oscars and wienermobiles there actually were back in the fifties.  I remember seeing Little Oscar and the wienermobile at nearly every supermarket grand opening in Southern California.  Maybe he's like Santa and needs lots of helpers! Nice localism post.

I have seen the Weener-Mobile.  It came through Ann Arbor, Mich; when I lived there years ago.  It is quite a sight!

Just a heads up if you have kids, if you see the weenie mobile and stop they will give each kid their own weenie whistle! Actually pretty darn cool!
