Making That REAL Connection Online To Offline

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

Online to OfflineComputers and the Internet are very comfortable and non-threatening to our social being. You go where you want to go and enjoy your time. But with all the ONLINE connections with people, those new ones you may talk to online each day, both for business and personal, don't get too comfortable ONLY on line.

For those you feel appropriate make that OFFLINE connection when the time is right. It might be some weeks or months or EVEN years till you meet that fave person of yours on line, particularly if with life's circumstances, financial, or distant geography you JUST CAN'T GET TOGETHER YET.

But for those people you groove with, NOTHING is enriching as finally meeting them in THE FLESH.

Mother Teresa had this line that in the world we starve more for love than even bread. A real hug beats a virtual hug like 1,000 times.

You need to transition and complement your online efficient work where you talk perhaps COOL stuff and move into the OFFLINE world, the MORE REAL WORLD and put a FACE to the conversation, real eyes looking back at you IN PERSON and not just web cams. We have had people marry from something started as online relationships, business deals struck, helping hands reached out to those in dire need, the list goes on and on. ABOVE all that risk is so worthwhile to meet, phone call or face to face when the time is right.

With GROUPS for a business or network, organize and attend local meet ups, Tweet ups, attend conferences or training sessions together as the EXCUSE to meet.

With individuals meet in a public place. I see this with the dating realm all the time at Starbucks with people at the next table introducing themselves and "checking each other out" to see where it goes. If traveling to a remote city of yours and you know an online connection set some time aside to meet them that way.

People you meet LIVE it is so fun from so much online chatter. You do feel like you have known them your whole life even if they are taller or shorter than you expected or their voice sounds different than you imagined.

We can think DRIVING SEEMS SO LAST CENTURY in not getting out from behind the computer, but it is not an all or nothing thing. Online can serve as just the BEGINNING to a very beautiful OFFLINE life together between you and a special person or an entire group that has similar interests in life or in business.

I need to get out from behind my PC much more than I do.  The lack of interaction will kill my business.  Real estate is a contact sport and I need to keep that in mind.

Interesting photo.  Makes you wonder how homeless this man really is or if he likes this lifestyle.

Gary - This is why I am not on as often. I have been doing some heavy networking and that is time consuming in itself. It's all good.

With GROUPS for a business or network, organize and attend local meet ups, Tweet ups, attend conferences or training sessions together as the EXCUSE to meet. - This is me to the tee!

Sincerely,

Cathy Bureau

Gary-Online is a great start but I agree offline and even talking on the phone is better.  You never know what life has in store for you, Keep your ears, eyes and heart option to the possibilities.

Gary, you are a wise man! Too many people spend too much time sitting with their laptop, iPad and iPhone.  Many do not know how to communicate face to face. "Life is a contact sport!"

It is so easy to stay behind the computer, but I have put together a one year networking plan for face to face.  Good contacts in a week, I'll evaluate again in three and six months.
