Computers and the Internet are very comfortable and non-threatening to our social being. You go where you want to go and enjoy your time. But with all the ONLINE connections with people, those new ones you may talk to online each day, both for business and personal, don't get too comfortable ONLY on line.
For those you feel appropriate make that OFFLINE connection when the time is right. It might be some weeks or months or EVEN years till you meet that fave person of yours on line, particularly if with life's circumstances, financial, or distant geography you JUST CAN'T GET TOGETHER YET.
But for those people you groove with, NOTHING is enriching as finally meeting them in THE FLESH.
Mother Teresa had this line that in the world we starve more for love than even bread. A real hug beats a virtual hug like 1,000 times.
You need to transition and complement your online efficient work where you talk perhaps COOL stuff and move into the OFFLINE world, the MORE REAL WORLD and put a FACE to the conversation, real eyes looking back at you IN PERSON and not just web cams. We have had people marry from something started as online relationships, business deals struck, helping hands reached out to those in dire need, the list goes on and on. ABOVE all that risk is so worthwhile to meet, phone call or face to face when the time is right.
With GROUPS for a business or network, organize and attend local meet ups, Tweet ups, attend conferences or training sessions together as the EXCUSE to meet.
With individuals meet in a public place. I see this with the dating realm all the time at Starbucks with people at the next table introducing themselves and "checking each other out" to see where it goes. If traveling to a remote city of yours and you know an online connection set some time aside to meet them that way.
People you meet LIVE it is so fun from so much online chatter. You do feel like you have known them your whole life even if they are taller or shorter than you expected or their voice sounds different than you imagined.
