Recently, Nestings Home Staging & Design had the honor of Staging a lovely home in Easton, CT. We used the seller's furnishings which were supplemented with new bedding and a couple of new lamps. After a quick sale, the seller then asked for our assistance with her new, albeit temporary, home.
She was moving from a large home to a very small condo, so editing was very important. Together, we selected which pieces of furniture she really wanted to take with her, measured everything, and then proceeded to measure the new home's rooms. The balance of her furniture was either donated or put into storage to await a future home.
The challenge was how to fit everything she wanted and needed into these small spaces. The Living Room was a real issue, since it also had to include a dining area, and it was a small, awkward shape that provided access to the outdoor patio. The client wanted to be able to entertain, have small dinner parties, and play her piano for guests.
So this room has to include seating, dining, TV, and...a piano. She also wanted to include a tall secretary, but that had to go into the Bedroom.
Not much wall space; The longest wall is a counter open to the Kitchen!
This is where the piano has to go. The client's bedroom is on the other side. If the piano was placed on the opposite wall, it might disturb the neighbors!
This was determined to be the most functional plan. The dining table is an oval drop-leaf, which can accommodate up to six people. All the furniture came from the client's former home. During installation, we ended up removing one of the two accent chairs.
Matching loveseats placed in an "L" ground the space. The pillows were formerly in a sunroom.
There's the piano, with a favorite painting above. The TV is easily viewed from the loveseats. The dining area is to the right.
We also specialize in hanging art for maximum impact. Rather than scattering the lovely vintage watercolors about, we hung them in a grouping.
The client was delighted with the planning process and the end results. Her favorite things were with her, and presented in a new way for all to appreciate.
