Connecticut Home Stager Provides Move-In Plans!

Moving into your new Connecticut house?  Is it smaller or larger than your old one?  Need fresh paint colors, carpet selections, or flooring alternatives?  Don't know how to place your furniture?  Call a professional Home Stager to help with the planning!

Recently, Nestings Home Staging & Design had the honor of Staging a lovely home in Easton, CT.  We used the seller's furnishings which were supplemented with new bedding and a couple of new lamps.  After a quick sale, the seller then asked for our assistance with her new, albeit temporary, home.

She was moving from a large home to a very small condo, so editing was very important.  Together, we selected which pieces of furniture she really wanted to take with her, measured everything, and then proceeded to measure the new home's rooms.  The balance of her furniture was either donated or put into storage to await a future home.

The challenge was how to fit everything she wanted and needed into these small spaces.  The Living Room was a real issue, since it also had to include a dining area, and it was a small, awkward shape that provided access to the outdoor patio.  The client wanted to be able to entertain, have small dinner parties, and play her piano for guests.

Living Room floor plan

So this room has to include seating, dining, TV, and...a piano.  She also wanted to include a tall secretary, but that had to go into the Bedroom.

Before

Not much wall space;  The longest wall is a counter open to the Kitchen!

This is where the piano has to go.  The client's bedroom is on the other side.  If the piano was placed on the opposite wall, it might disturb the neighbors!

Living Room plan

This was determined to be the most functional plan.  The dining table is an oval drop-leaf, which can accommodate up to six people.  All the furniture came from the client's former home.  During installation, we ended up removing one of the two accent chairs.

Matching loveseats placed in an "L" ground the space.  The pillows were formerly in a sunroom.

There's the piano, with a favorite painting above.  The TV is easily viewed from the loveseats.  The dining area is to the right.

We also specialize in hanging art for maximum impact.  Rather than scattering the lovely vintage watercolors about, we hung them in a grouping.

The client was delighted with the planning process and the end results.  Her favorite things were with her, and presented in a new way for all to appreciate.

Julia-You did a great job of incorporating the owners furniture into their new space.  I'm hoping we can spread the word that Home Stagers can help buyers or new homeowners as well.  Trying to work with a piano is always a challenge!

Julia --- you obviously proved your staging value with the sale of her home --- it only makes sense to assist with her new home.   Editing the best of the best created a very nice and livable, if only temporary, environment.

Hi Kathy:  I do a lot of move-in work.  I really like it.  We know each other; have a certain comfort level; the client knows I have an appreciation for their things...  One of my Staging clients just called from their new home in New Jesrey, asking for my help!

Sharon:  It seems everyone has a piano!  You do have to be careful about placement - especially in a condo!  I haven't seen so many since I was little, when each of my friends had one.  We didn't, but I am proud to say I can play up to page five of the first grade paino book!  LOL

Marie:  "Rock of Ages" YEAH!

Michael:  We got very creative - Thanks!

Hi Julia,
A completely different use of staging!

I loved the blow by blow description of the process.

Clearly you must have done a great job on the selling side, to get the clients nod to do her new place!

HI Julia, love how you assisted this client in their new home. Extending this service to your clients is a fantastic way to expand your business.  Helping your clients feel at home right away in their new home has its benefits including creating great word of mouth business. When their friends and family come to visit them they see what you were able to do in a couple of hours. Very impressive.
