Get Clicky Web Ananlytics: Tools For Realtors Series

Get Clicky Web AnalyticsWhen you are putting together a website, it is very important to make sure you use a web analytics program like Get Clicky. You need to know if people are coming, where they are coming from and what pages they look at. Why is this important? If you can't track what is happening, you can't change the things that are not working, or beef up the things are are working. Tracking  is a must.

There are a lot of programs out there. Google analytics is good and is free. And there are a lot of paid systems that will give you a more detailed mount of information. I have used GetClicky.com for years, first with the limited free version, and later with the paid one. It is usable on any site. If you build your own sites, you can add the code yourself, but if you have a webmaster, they can do it for you.

The reason I love Get Clicky Web Analytics is that they give you a lot of really detailed information that allows you to tweak things as you go. You can see their Comparison Chart with other providers of this services. Here are the reasons I love and use Get Clicky:

  • Time frame. Choose 24 hours, 2 days, a week, 30, 60 or 90 days, or a custom time frame. If I write an article, I may want to see if I am getting hits by the next day. But if I am looking at a bigger picture I may want to go back a month or two, or longer.
  • Basic Information, which tells you things like how many visitors you had in the time frame you selected and and how many click trough's.
  • Links clicked to come to your site. This gives you the referral sites they used, like google, or ActiveRain
  • What did they type in the search box? Get Clicky tells you that, as well. This can assist you in firming up those keywords
  • Pages visited. What pages were actually clicked on. You get a long list of where people are going within your site
  • Local- Get Clicky will actually tell you which Countries, and Cities clicks came from.

These are just a few of the things you get with Get Clicky Web Ananlytics. So how can Realtors use this information?

If you are blogging a lot, you want to know if people are actually reading what you write. Are you blogging to the masses, or are you creating what I call a vanity site just for yourself? Seeing the numbers will tell you which side you are on, despite your intentions.

Another bit of information that is good for Realtors is that you get the city the click comes from. Why is this good? If you are getting a lot of people coming to your site from a particular area, you may be able to capitalize on that by marketing in that area.

For Realtors here in North Carolina, the majority of sales prior to the slow down was from Florida. It completely stopped in the mid 2000's. I was able to see this first hand in my Get Click Web Analytics account. Not only were visitors down, but the ones that came to my sites were from all over, instead of clustered in a few places like before. Now the last six months or so the number of Florida clicks are back up. This tells me the market down there is shifting and ours may start to pick up again. And in fact the last two months we have seen that.

I know that most of us can absolutely glaze over on the numbers thing. I certainly was in that place when I started Real Estate. But if we can step back, take a deep breath, and use what we have to move forward in a more productive way, the numbers may not be so scary. Don't let the numbers thing scare you. Look into a Web Analytics system for your site and learn how to read the numbers. Make sure that whatever company you use has easy to read charts! Then move forward armed with information that will make your site, and your business, a success!
