There is a new social media marketing tool in town, which my be the most fun and most addicting of them all! Pinterest is taking over computers and mobile devices all over the world. It has surged so quickly that InmanNext has even featured a webinar to help agents learn the ropes, as well as a Pinterest:101 article to give you the run down in 5 easy steps.

Below, RealSupport, Inc. shares some information on how to use Pinterest for your real estate brand:

If you haven’t heard all the hubbub, Pinterest is the new big thing in social media. This new platform is not only a way to stay social, but also a way to share your interests with an entire community with thousands of participants. From food to sports to interior design and real estate, Pinterest allows you to showcase your work and the work of others with just a short caption and a click of a button. Still confused? Don’t worry, it took me about three weeks to understand what it’s all about (that was after the two weeks I waited for a Facebook invite to join the network!) but now I am a Pinterest fiend.

While the social network is mainly used for personal enjoyment, the concept of using it to build a brand is quickly catching on. As your real estate virtual assistants, we have created accounts and began experimenting to share the news with you.  Whether you’ve been on Pinterest since its debut or you’re hearing about it for the first time, there are plenty of ways to enhance your business model with the use of this new tool.

Identify Yourself:
Just like you would choose a custom Facebook URL or a unique Twitter handle for your business, secure a Pinterest username. For bigger companies, some people have already created names and are using logos that they have no affiliation with. If your brand isn’t something as big as Google, Target or Maratha Stewart, there’s a good chance you will be able to reserve your desired handle. Even if you don’t plan to start using Pinterest right away, take 60 seconds to register, so when you start implementing it into your schedule you’re ready to go. You can even use the pictures and information from your current Facebook and Twitter pages to populate your profile.

Use Hashtags:
If you’re already using Pinterest, did you know that you can also use hashtags? Just like Twitter, Pinterest allows you to mark keywords with the infamous number sign, making your pins more likely to show up in a search. The hashtags will also roll over if your pin is shared or re-pinned by another user.

Color and Style:
Last week we discussed how your color scheme affects your brand. The same concept transitions into Pinterest. Bring your brand to life by incorporating your color and style into your profile. You’ve already got great property photos to show off, so make sure your overall presence reflects that same flair.

Pin It:
Pinterest provides every member an option to add a “pin it” button to the top toolbar in their web browser. Moreover, you can also add this button to your company website! Just like you have a button for Facebook, Twitter and your blog, you can also have a “pin it” button so your clients or website viewers can pin your listings to their own Pinterest account. Don’t worry, you will still get credit. Every time something gets pinned, it always shows the website that the picture originally came from.

Over the past couple of months, we have had several clients ask us if Pinterest is a good thing to incorporate into their social networking strategy. We tell them yes. It is a great way to showcase properties and give your clients (and potential) clients a sense of who you are, what you specialize in, and how you can help them visualize and obtain their dream home. If you have any questions on how to get started, or if you need assisting with social media, blogging or listing marketing, feel free to contact us anytime!

Have an awesome day!
